He’s turning 50 on Christmas

‘I’m doing everything I can to make myself feel like I’m not 50,’ he said during a chat with his sister Meredith Seacrest for Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old American Idol host — who has lately been getting mixed reviews after taking over for host Pat Sajak on Wheel Of Fortune — credited his intense exercise regimen with helping him to feel youthful even as he cruises into middle age.

Ryan shared that he was going over the top with physical activity and diet to help him feel his best, even though he said he felt ‘good’ about his looming 50th.

‘I’m over-exercising, eating better, over-training,’ he said, adding that going over the top also requires ‘lots of recovery, lots of muscle recovery,’ including ‘cold plunging’ and ‘steaming.’

He summed up his approached to his workouts as ‘anything I can do to make myself feel 29 again.’

The segment included clips of Ryan lifting weights and doing other strength training exercises.

He also showed off his new diet in photos of himself cooking some tasty-looking fish fillets and a dish that was heavy on grains and vegetables.

After listing off all the things he does to feel youthful, Ryan sounded unsure of himself when he weighed in on turning 50.

‘I guess I’m excited,’ he said hesitantly. ‘Talk to me on December 25th, the day after 50.’

He seemed to realize that that Christmas celebrations might take up their time, so he corrected himself.

‘Although the 25th will be fine — talk to me on the 26th,’ he added.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Ryan looked back on his time co-hosting Live With Kelly And Ryan with daytime talkshow mainstay Kelly Ripa.

‘ Kelly. I mean, I loved it so much,’ he gushed.

He gave fans a glimpse behind the scene, revealing: ‘It’s amazing how that show just comes together at the very last second and there’s a loose plan, but a very loose plan.’

Ryan joined Kelly as her co-host in 2017, and he departed last year ahead of his plans to take over hosting Wheel Of Fortune after Pat Sajak’s retirement.

‘It’s so incredible to watch you on Wheel Of Fortune and just this whole new era for you,’ she gushed. ‘We’ll watch with Flora and it’s, like, teaching her how to know her letter and her numbers and it’s fantastic. So, you’re teaching your niece.’

The two also had some fun with each other as they looked back on their childhood’s and how their parents (allegedly) raised them differently.

Ryan was convinced that he was parented more strictly than Meredith, but she thought it was the opposite.

‘No, it was not opposite,’ Ryan shot back. ‘You were the one that snuck out.’

‘I did sneak out,’ she conceded.
