Since retiring from the NFL in 2008, New York Giants legend Michael Strahan has been a fixture in the TV world.

He has been an NFL analyst on Fox since he stepped away from the sport and later became a host on ABC’s Good Morning America in 2014.

Strahan appeared at the Economic Club of New York on Monday and was asked about his work on the hit morning show.

“GMA is fantastic. I love Robin, I love George, it changes every day you can’t get bored,” he told interviewer and ECNY Chair Emeritus Terry Lundgren.

“It gives me a chance to travel the world, do interesting things, and talk to interesting people.”

Strahan suggested that he wouldn’t retire from television anytime soon.

He went on to speak about the process of joining a morning show while working for Fox.

“I was not a morning person at all, I’ve had to develop into a morning person,” Strahan said.

“I love to be home, I love the quiet, I don’t like attention. There was a learning curve joining the show, I’m like an extroverted introvert.”

As for his football career, Strahan opened up on the feeling of being a seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end in the NFL.

“The thing that I miss [about] football is that competitiveness of it. And I just didn’t want to be average. If I want to do something, I want to be great at it,” he said.

Strahan retired from the game in 2008 after winning his first and only Super Bowl with the Giants.

He believes that his then-36-year-old self made the right choice.

“I don’t regret my retirement now,” Strahan said.

“All of the timing worked out, I’m so happy I retired from football when I did.

“I never wanted to be a guy who didn’t give everything to the game, if I would’ve come back it would’ve been for finances.

“I didn’t want to cheat the game like that.”

Strahan will appear on the Week 3 edition of Fox NFL Sunday this weekend.

And the NFL Hall of Famer also appears on Monday and Friday on GMA.
