Jeopardy! viewers rage over a clue reference that “nobody” uses.

On the Monday, April 7 episode of the trivia game show, Taylor Mattox, an IT specialist from Columbus, Ohio and Erin Li, a psychiatrist from Queens, New York faced the returning champion Mike Dawson, a technology manager from Portland, Oregon with winnings of $21,601. Host Ken Jennings read the clue: “A 2-letter, 11 point scrabble killer, ‘Za’ is accepted as a slangy shortening of this.” Erin guessed “Pizza,” which was the correct answer.

The show referred to pizza as “za”
Viewers at home were annoyed at the fact that “Za” was even a clue since they claimed no one refers to pizza as that. One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote, “I have never used ‘Za’ in my life. #jeopardy,” with a GIF of Friends character Joey Tribbiani, played by Matt LeBlanc, that said: “Pizza! We like Pizza.”

Another person wrote, “NOBODY calls it ‘za’ #Jeopardy.” A third user posted, “Scrabble, nobody calls it ‘za’ unless they’re playing Scrabble. (Or Words With Friends.) #Jeopardy.”

Earlier in the show, Ken was also called out for needing one of the contestants to be more clear on an answer. Erin picked the category with the clue: “She set a Guinness World Record for youngest individual credited with a Grammy for her work on Beyoncé’s ‘Brown skin girl’.”

The returning champ guessed “Blue Ivy,” but Ken needed the contestant to be more specific. Mike said, “Blue Ivy Carter,” which was correct.

Viewers at home raged since there is one famous Blue Ivy, who is Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter. One person on the social media platform wrote: “How many damn Blue Ivy’s are there Ken?#jeopardy.”

Another person wrote, “Come on! Who else is Blue Ivy? #Jeopardy.” A person on Reddit wrote, “Was a bit surprised to see Ken give a more specific prompt for Mike’s ‘Blue Ivy’ ring-in. How many Blue Ivys are out there haha? Mike also looked confounded afterwards.”
