Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ legal representatives have made a startling accusation, claiming that the leak of incriminating footage was orchestrated by the U.S. federal government.

In May, unsettling surveillance video from 2016 surfaced, showing Diddy physically аttacking his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, which Combs’ lawyers now assert was a deliberate act.

Currently, Combs is awaiting trial on sеx trafficking charges, which he denies, at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Recent legal filings reportedly point the finger at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the lеak of the video, asserting that Cassie’s team had no involvement in making the footage public. Combs’ attorneys are ultimately accusing federal authorities of misconduct in his criminal case.

Documents reviewed by TMZ claim that when the video was released by CNN on May 17, a correspondent from the network contacted Combs’ team for a statement, stating that they planned to air the clip within a few hours.

The CNN correspondent reportedly mentioned that the network had obtained surveillance footage from the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles from 2016.

Following CNN’s inquiry, Combs’ legal team emailed the prosecutors involved in his case, informing them that they had been made aware that the video had been shared with CNN. Their message reportedly expressed concern, stating: “My worry is that someone (not any of you or the lead case agents) provided this footage to CNN. I mention this to you because I assume you wouldn’t want this to happen any more than I do.”

According to Combs’ legal representatives, an Assistant United States Attorney assigned to his case responded, “We really appreciate you giving us a heads up. We have now seen the video.”

Combs’ attorneys argue that the DHS is responsible for the leak, as it has frequently been referenced in reports regarding raids on their client’s property and the overall investigation into him.

They also claimed that the release of the tape to CNN “demonstrates a motive to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation without compensation—a motive that federal agents possess.”

Furthermore, his team highlighted that it is improbable Cassie was behind the leak since her lawsuit against Combs did not indicate that she had access to the tape.

Following the release of the Cassie video, Combs issued an apology on Instagram, expressing regret and stating that he had hit “rock bottom,” though he added, “I make no excuses.”

However, his apology video was met with backlash on social media, with many criticizing his failure to acknowledge Cassie.
