The Tampa Bay Rays are starting things off with impressive plays, not only from their infield players but also from the ballboys as happened on Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

A ballboy by the name of Braden Coles displayed impressive legwork, dive, and catch when he captured the powerful foul ball sent off by Toronto’s George Springer. The projectile that had passed through the first base was caught extraordinarily by Coles.

The game ended with Toronto falling to the Rays 5-1 after the Blue Jays only had a meaningful play in the 7th inning, while Tampa Bay kept it easy but constantly by scoring in the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 8th innings.

Benches were cleared during the game in the 8th inning when Randy Arozarena hit a single and stole two bases in just a few minutes. Meanwhile, Isaac Paredes struck out and Amed Rosario lifted the ball behind first base, two outs, and José Caballero took a turn, until then everything seemed easy for Tampa until the error occurred.

Caballero took a swing and sent the ball to 3rd base when Justin Turner caught the ball and sent it to 1st base but the 1st baseman did not catch it, it had to be George Springer who sent it to 3rd base again to finally send Caballero to the dugout, not before a clash between Caballero and Genesis Cabrera went further.

First game of the 2024 MLB season with clear benches

Caballero was running toward Bo Bichette’s 3rd base and to beat the ball thrown by Springer, he ran as fast as he could but all his efforts were useless as the ball was there before him, and he was out, however, he failed to stop on time and hit Genesis Cabrera with his body, it only took a few words for the fight to begin.

It only took a push from Cabrera to Caballero and both dugouts were on the field to stop the fight that only lasted for a few minutes.
