Now, a veteran ballplayer is added to the roster with plenty of experience, according to information from MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the Mets have signed outfielder/designated hitter J.D. Martinez to a one-year, $12 million contract.
Martinez played last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, with whom he also signed a one-year deal. He played 113 games and batted for .271 with 33 homers and 103 RBIs, being elected to the All-Star, his best year since the 2019 season.
In total, he has been elected to 6 All-Star Games, has won 3 Silver Bats, and was champion of the 2018 World Series with the Boston Red Sox, a season in which he was also fourth in the MVP voting.
