The Voice fans praise Camryn Brooks for incredible four-chair turn – three years after she was brutally rejected

NBC’s The Voice returned on Monday, with fans praising the latest success story of a returning contestant.

Camryn Brooks was just 21 when she auditioned for The Voice Season 21 back in 2021, but none of the four judges – Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson – turned for her.

Ariana Grande told her, ‘The reason why you will succeed when you return is because of the way you handled this moment, and you are clearly not afraid to do the work. Please come back.’

Now 24, Brooks has returned, though not after suffering quite the scary setback: she was diagnosed with the heart condition myocarditis, and at one point she couldn’t even, ‘get out more than three words at a time’ before she was ‘gasping for air.’

She returned to a whole new judges panel of Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Michael Buble and Reba McEntire, all four of whom turned for her.

Brooks revealed that there was a point where she wasn’t even sure she’d be singing at all, let alone returning to The Voice.

‘The first thought that came to my mind was, am I going to be able to sing again? You know, in that moment you just think, like, am I going to die? I’m too young to have this happen,’ she said.

She added, ‘I think going through something as scary as that, it really kind of puts into perspective what matters. You just kind of realize you need to fight for what you want.’

‘And so, I’ve literally just nonstop worked on my heart health with my doctors. I worked on singing, and now, three years later, I can finish a song, and I can dance a little, too. I’m just so blessed to even be here

Brooks performed Light On by Maggie Rogers, though none of the judges turned right away, with Stefani reaching for her buzzer… only to pull back… before finally turning after she hit a certain note.

After showing more of her range, the other three judges turned as Stefani approached her and said, ‘I was first! I was first!’

She told the judges that she was a contestant and didn’t get a chair turn, which amazed all four of the judges.

Buble said his favorite part was her ‘losing it,’ after all four judges turned, which he said was, ‘such a human moment.’

All four judges tried hard to sway her – with Buble even busting out the Canadian National Anthem – but she ultimately chose Team Gwen, after Stefani’s pitch went so well that even Buble himself wanted to join her team.
