Greg Gutfeld Sparks Controversy with Parenting and Abortion Remarks
Fox News host Greg Gutfeld returned to his late-night talk show, Gutfeld!, following a 46-day paternity leave, only to spark outrage with comments about parenting and abortion. Gutfeld, 60, and his wife, Elena Moussa, 42, recently welcomed their first child, Mira. During his show’s opening monologue, he shared his perspective on fatherhood while making controversial jokes that have drawn significant criticism.
Describing parenting as “not easy” but “not earth-shattering either,” Gutfeld joked, “Yeah, yeah, it’s easy. Almost anyone can do it, and really, kids practically take care of themselves. Right now, mine’s sitting in the car, double-parked outside. Don’t worry, I rolled down the windows.” The remark, clearly intended as humor, left many viewers questioning his sensitivity on the subject.
Reflecting on his personal growth since becoming a father, Gutfeld admitted, “The lesson I’ve learned is how much I got to unlearn. Throughout my life, I’ve mastered the art of being selfish, and it’s helped my career. But a great career isn’t hard when you’re only about you.”
However, it was his comments on abortion that provoked the most backlash. Gutfeld criticized women who choose to end their pregnancies, likening them to a “biological Benedict Arnold”—a reference to the infamous American traitor. His remarks, branding them as “pro-abortion” in a derogatory tone, sparked debate about his insensitivity toward women’s reproductive rights.
Gutfeld’s return marked an attempt to mix humor with commentary, but his remarks ignited heated discussions across social media and beyond. While his supporters praised his candidness and wit, critics labeled his comments as tone-deaf and dismissive, particularly in the context of women’s rights and the complexities of parenting. The episode underscored the divisiveness of Gutfeld’s brand of comedy and commentary.

“Although there are exceptions. But if you work single-mindedly for ten years, you can master any profession except maybe porn, because in five years you’ve already aged out.”
Taking aim at women who end their pregnancy, he said it amazes him that they can be so pro-abortion and said they were like a biological Benedict Arnold – a reference to the US military officer who switched allegiance to Britain in the American Civil War.
