The Los Angeles Lakers officially selected Bronny James with the 55th pick overall in the NBA Draft. It marks the first time ever that a father-son duo will play in the league simultaneously, and there’s still a chance they’ll be teammates as well. With that said, shortly after the draft, Nike dropped a powerful ad featuring Bronny.

Bronny James’ Nike ad was released almost immediately after he was taken by the Lakers. It makes sense considering James signed an NIL deal with Nike back in October 2022. With that said, here is the ad that has since gone viral on social media.

That’s an awesome ad no matter how you look at it. We’ve essentially watched Bronny James grow up as a child, as he would routinely be on the sideline watching his father in the NBA. Now, he himself is in the league playing for the Lakers. Sure, he was a late-second-round pick, but this is a historic moment for the league and the James family.

Bronny James wasn’t the best player in college basketball last season. He came off the bench for the USC Trojans and averaged just under 20 minutes per game. During his time with the Trojans, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

Bronny James’ future outlook in the NBA

James’ career is an interesting one to keep an eye on. He’s the type of player that needs time to develop, and to put it frankly, he probably would have benefited from playing at least one more year in college. However, he’s now in the NBA and playing for the Lakers.

It’s an amazing accomplishment considering he fought his way back onto the court after suffering a cardiac arrest in college. Despite that, Bronny James looked good during the NBA Combine. But it’s unclear how his career will play out.

Many believe he can be a solid three-and-D guy in the league. But he’s going to have to work his way to that role. We may see Bronny James in the G-League to begin his career. But if he can pick things up quickly, then he could perhaps have some playing time for the Lakers.

As long as James puts in the work, he should see some playing time down the road. He has the perfect size and measurements to be a problem defensively at the perimeter. Ideally, he could play that role for the Lakers late next season. However, that would be a perfect situation.
