IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark was named the 2023-24 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year, the Big Ten announced Thursday.
The West Des Moines-native is the first Hawkeye to win the award in back to back years.
Clark is the third Iowa Hawkeye to win the award, joining Kristy Gleason (field Hockey, 1994) and Megan Gustafson (women’s basketball, 2019).
Clark earned the award for a season in which she became the all-time leading scorer. She led the nation in 10 offensive categories last season, including average points per game (31.6) and assists per game (8.9).
She now plays for the Indiana Fever in the WNBA, after being the first overall pick in this year’s draft.
This week, she was also named the winner of the Honda Cup, and was nominated for three ESPY Awards.
