Today host Dylan Dreyer has revealed she is pregnant with her third baby boy, two years after welcoming her second son Oliver following a heartbreaking miscarriage and infertility struggles.
The 39-year-old shared the happy news live on-air on Tuesday during a tongue-in-cheek cooking segment that saw her baking some cinnamon buns with her oldest son Calvin, while joking about having ‘a bun in the oven’.
Dylan, who is married to TV producer Brian Fichera, revealed during the second hour of the morning show that she and her husband had all but given up on conceiving a third child after once again facing infertility issues – however they were then stunned to learn that they were pregnant.
‘We were trying for a third, and it wasn’t happening. So we thought let’s forget about it, move on,’ she shared. ‘Then boom, surprise!’
The meteorologist – who suffered a first-trimester miscarriage in 2019 – added that she is due in November, meaning that she is likely a few weeks into her second trimester.

Although Dylan’s Today co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb insisted that they ‘knew it’ – revealing that they had actually exchanged text messages in which they speculated that the soon-to-be mother-of-three might be pregnant again – they were still stunned by how well she had managed to keep her bump concealed.
Dylan joked that she used two invaluable tools to hide her growing tummy: her ‘tightest Spanx’, and a large water bottle, which she carried around in front of her stomach to conceal any evidence of her pregnancy.
The host shared her happy news during a special edition of her ‘Cooking With Cal’ segment, in which she whips up different dishes with her older son Calvin.
In the clip, the mother and son baked some delicious cinnamon rolls – with Calvin quickly giving the game away by noting that the dough for the dish was ‘even bigger than the baby’.
In the third hour of the Today show, Dylan revealed the baby’s gender, delightedly sharing that she is having a third boy – using her co-hosts to help her share the news by holding up cinnamon roll boxes with the letters ‘B-O-Y’ inside.
Dylan and her husband Brian have two sons together, Calvin, four, and Oliver, two, who was conceived amid a heartbreaking infertility battle – during which the Today star suffered a first-trimester miscarriage.
The couple were actually preparing to undergo their first round of IVF treatment when Dylan made the shock discovery that she had conceived a second child naturally.

Dylan first revealed in April 2019 that she had suffered a miscarriage when she was just five weeks pregnant.
She explained that she and her husband Brian had decided they wanted to give their son a sibling, but they discovered it was more difficult to get pregnant the second time around. When she finally became pregnant, she ended up losing the baby.
‘Five weeks go by, I wake up to just bleeding. To the point where I’m standing in the shower and it won’t stop,’ Dylan said through tears while speaking on the third hour of the show. ‘I wake up and I tell [Brian] that and I say “I think I lost the baby.”
‘The first thing he says to me was, “You didn’t lose the baby…you didn’t do anything wrong.”‘
Ever the professional, Dylan went to work that day while dealing with the possibility of a miscarriage, and soon after, she started blogging about her secondary infertility and IVF journey for Today Parents.
Secondary infertility is the inability for a woman to successfully conceive and carry a child to term despite already having one or more children already.
On the Today show, Dylan explained that she and Brian tried to conceive naturally for six months before consulting her OBGYN to discuss what could be going wrong.

‘The results showed that I have a very low egg count,’ Dylan said of the appointment. ‘Instead of having the egg count of a 37-year-old, I am more like mid-40s.’
When she gave birth to Calvin, Dylan underwent an emergency C-section, which left her two-thirds of her uterus scarred. The leftover scar tissue made it difficult for a fetus to inhabit her uterus.
Dylan then met with a fertility doctor and underwent surgery to remove the scar tissue, which helped her to conceive the baby that she then miscarried.
The couple was advised to try IVF treatment, and were awaiting a call from their doctor about when they would be able to begin their first round. But instead, to their surprise, they were instead told that they had managed to conceive a second child naturally.
‘I was just waiting for the phone call from [my doctor], to tell me how much of each drug to use,’ she explained. ‘Instead, when he called, he said, “Well, you can’t start IVF because you’re already pregnant!” We were in complete shock. We couldn’t believe it!’
In fact, Dylan said she ‘had no idea’ it was even possible for her to get pregnant naturally, and that she was still carrying on with ‘classes to learn about the injections and hot to mix the medications’, all the while not realizing that she had already conceived her baby.
