A difficult competition broke out against a former 15-year-old college graduate and a current middle school teacher as they fought for victory in a difficult Jeopardy! match

Tuesday’s episode of Jeopardy! brought together another fierce slate of competitors, including two rival academics.

John Liu, notorious for graduating college at only 15-years-old, came to the studio as a quiz whiz hopeful. Host Ken Jennings inquired further about his academic elitism, asking if it felt surreal. However, John noted that for him, “it felt completely normal.”

The Jeopardy! star said: “It was all I knew. I’d skip grades on the way through elementary, middle, and high school. It wasn’t until years later when I was in my twenties that I was like that was kind of a weird experience when I was growing up.”

However, John’s academic success at a young age was harshly challenged by an active middle school teacher, Aimée Record, from Long Island. In the end, John was victorious over her with $7,801.

Ian Taylor

It wasn’t an easy win, though, as Aimée led the pack after the Jeopardy! round of the game with a staggering $3,800. It wasn’t until Double Jeopardy! that John was able to pull ahead before ultimately securing the win during Final Jeopardy!.

“One of the 10 or so babies born at Argentina’s Esperanza Base in this place was fittingly named Marisa de las Nieves” was Tuesday’s Final Jeopardy! clue. Sadly, Aimée was the only individual to guess incorrectly, asking: “Buenos Aires?”

John, and the additional competitor, Ian Taylor, both gave a correct answer of Antartica. As a result, despite her fight, Aimée fell to the bottom of the scoreboard.

While he didn’t excel into academia at only 15-years-old, Ian had his own interesting teenage experience. He told Ken: “When I was 15, my dad lived down on the Chesapeake Bay and a friend of his had decided to try his hand as a crab fisherman and my dad brought me down for the summer to work on his boat and on the second day, he quit and went back to whatever his career was an I was left with two days experience as a crab fisher.”
