Bryce James doesn’t believe he will get chance to play with his father LeBron in the NBA

Bronny and LeBron James will play together for the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James’ long-held dream of playing in the NBA alongside his oldest son came true on Thursday when the Lakers selected Bronny James with the No. 55 pick in the draft.

It has long been thought that James would only sign a contract extension with the Lakers if his son was drafted by Jeanie Buss’ franchise. However, some suggested that this was a myth.

Yet, the Lakers selecting Bronny points towards it being true, although given LeBron’s age, it might be too much of an ask for him to be able to share an NBA locker room with two of his sons.

Bryce James looks set to be drafted into the league a number of years down the line, but he doesn’t believe he will play with his father.

What did Bryce James say?

Bryce, during an Instagram Live session on Friday, responded to a question about whether he believed LeBron would wait to play with him before retiring. Bryce dismissed the idea quickly.

“I’m not gonna lie, that’s OD,” Bryce said on the live video.

“Waiting until I – nah, that’s too much. That’s too much, no. No, good lord. He’s going to be 42, bro.”

After spending two years with Bronny at Sierra Canyon High School, Bryce is entering his junior year at Notre Dame High School and has positioned himself for a potential NBA career.

He delivered solid performances in the Nike EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League), scoring 21 points against Cameron Boozer, son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer.

Additionally, Bryce averaged 7.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in the Nike EYBL, and 8.3 points across four games in the Peach Jam for Strive for Greatness 16U.

At 6-foot-4, Bryce is currently ranked No. 22 among California high school players by ESPN.

LeBron will either play alongside or against Bronny this upcoming season, depending on whether he chooses to test free agency, though that seems unlikely.

If LeBron stays with the Lakers, he and Bronny would become the first father-son duo to play together in NBA history.
