Brittany Mahomes is widely known as the wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes and mother of their two children. But not much is mentioned about her promising soccer career that was cut short.
Well before being a personal trainer and IG personality, Brittany Mahomes was a record-breaker at the women’s soccer program at the University of Texas at Tyler. In the last of her four seasons with the program, she set a single-season record with 18 goals.
Why Brittany Mahomes stopped playing soccer
Despite the excitement of all parties involved, Brittany Mahomes career failed to take off. The American forward played in 5 games with club UMF Afturelding, scoring two goals. Despite the successful season, in which she was able to win the championship trophy, her spell abroad came to an end (along with her soccer career).
Instead of giving the US’ NWSL a try, Brittany started to focus on a being an entrepreneur. She created Brittany Lynne Fitness, becoming a certified personal trainer and health advocate.
Brittany’s love for soccer continues, as a team owner
Brittany Mahomes and husband Patrick are co-owners of the Kansas City Current. The NWSL expansion team was born in 2021. The couple, along with former Eagles star Chris Long, are owners of the franchise and are frequently seen at games.
The club has grown exponentially, even reaching the NWSL Championship finals in 2022. They were defeated in the title game (2-0) by Portland Thorns FC.
After a decade of dating, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany tied the knot in 2022. The couple have a daughter and son: 2-year old Sterling Skye, and 3-month old son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.
