A New York bakery has clapped back at Whoopi Goldberg after they refused her service.

A historic Staten Island bakery is disputing claims by Whoopi Goldberg that it refused service based on her political views, citing equipment troubles instead as the reason for initial hesitation with her order.

The dispute emerged after Goldberg, co-host of The View, made comments during her 69th birthday celebration on Wednesday’s show about Holtermann’s Bakery allegedly refusing her order.

“They said that their ovens had gone down, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them,” Goldberg said on air.

“Perhaps they did not like my politics.”

Jill Holtermann, owner of the 145-year-old bakery, strongly denied politics played any role in the situation.

“They’d asked us and we were having trouble with our boilers,” Holtermann told Entertainment Weekly.

“I didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t carry through.”

The bakery ultimately fulfilled the order, producing approximately 50 desserts, which were picked up early Wednesday morning.

“I said to Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now. We have so many things going on with my boiler,’ because the building is from 1930,” Holtermann explained.

During the show, Goldberg presented the desserts as a tribute to her mother.

“My birthday dessert today was one of my mom’s favorites from when she was a kid, she talked about these all the time, they’re called Charlotte Russe.”

The order was requested for two November show dates, but initial concerns about equipment reliability in the historic building led to Holtermann’s cautious response.

The bakery operates out of a 1930s-era building that frequently experiences technical issues, according to Holtermann.

Despite the controversy, the desserts made it to the show’s celebration, where Goldberg shared them with co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Joy Behar and Sara Haines.

“This is my mother’s celebration. Pick these up and celebrate with me and my mom,” Goldberg told her co-hosts.

Goldberg, known for her progressive political stance, has maintained a visible position on various political issues, including her ongoing refusal to say former President Donald Trump’s name on air.
