See Jonathan Owens’ Emotional Teary Eyes and Sweet Reaction After Simone Biles Won a Gold Medal: “He’s really proud of his amazing wife…”
The gymnast previously told ELLE that her husband is “always rooting” for her.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Jonathan Owens showed up to support his wife, Simone Biles, as she made her big Olympic return.
After Biles won the individual all-around competition, officially making her the most decorated American Olympic gymnast ever, he made a heart sign with his hands from the stands.
ESPN posted a photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, of his sweet reaction.
Throughout the competition, Owens was taking photos of his wife and cheering her on.
Before the Games, Biles opened up to ELLE about their marriage, revealing that she thinks of Owens as her secret weapon. “He always says, ‘Smile like you’re the best out there. Nobody can do it like you. You have to trust your training [and] trust your process,’” Biles said.
Not only is Owens a big cheerleader for Biles professionally, she says that he supports her off the mat, too. She said: “We love the time we get to share together, but we’re always rooting for each other, on and off the field.” The two got married in Cabo, Mexico, last year after meeting on the dating app Raya. And when she posted about their wedding on Instagram, some trolls commented on her hair. “Most of the backlash we get is from our own community, which is unfortunate,” Biles told ELLE. “I don’t really care if my edges aren’t smooth.”
Hair care is actually something the couple has in common. When Biles’ stylist makes a house call, she says the visits bring Owens back to his childhood, when his mom got her own hair done. “He loves the smell of hair being straightened,” she laughs. “He gets his hair braided every two weeks, so we’re in a similar boat.”
