Patrick Mahomes Shares Candid Reaction to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s High-Profile Romance
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback also weighed in on whether he thinks the couple is a good match.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have the full support of Patrick Mahomes.
While many people (mostly the dads, Brads and Chads) have been fed up with the constant attention and buzz the high-profile romance continues to attract—particularly when Swift shows up to support Kelce at his games—Mahomes is standing by his long-time teammate and his significant other.
During a chat with CBS’ Nate Burleson, Mahomes declared that the “Lover” songstress is “part of Chiefs Kingdom and she is part of the team.”
When asked about how the team has addressed Kelce’s newsworthy new romance, Mahomes explained that at the beginning, “everyone kind of stayed away—just let him do what he was doing,” noting that there were a “couple of jokes here and there at the beginning,”
“And then he started bringing Taylor around and he realized how cool of a person she was, and she is,” it became more serious, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback stated.
Mahomes isn’t the only person to welcome Swift with open arms as his wife, Brittany Mahomes, immediately connected with the pop star and struck up a close friendship, something that Mahomes is grateful for: “It’s cool that she’s embraced Brittney and they’ve built a friendship as well.”
But mostly, the 28-year-old is happy when Kelce is happy—and he’s been thrilled to see his good friend on cloud nine.
“For me, it’s Travis, man,” he said, adding, “He’s lucky enough to be with a great girl and a great woman. It’s been cool to kind of interact with her and see, because she’s top tier at her profession, and see how she drives and she becomes that. It’s really cool to hear about and see. And now I have a first-hand look at that through Brittney and Travis’ eyes.”
As for compatibility, Mahomes thinks it’s the real deal, noting: “It is really cool and I’m glad that she’s the person that she is, and that’s why I think her and Travis match so well.”
The full interview airs on Monday, Dec. 25, on CBS Sports.
