Chiefs to Set a New Benchmark With Andy Reid's Blockbuster Extension, as They Did With Patrick Mahomes' $210M Deal; Reveals. A standard practice after a Super Bowl-winning season across all NFL teams is handing out ...

According to reports, ‘Big Red’ has inked a contract extension with the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions that will keep him in the Chiefs’ top seat until 2029.

In doing so, 66-year-old Reid becomes the highest-paid head coach in the NFL- reportedly earning over $18 million per year.

The franchise isn’t about to change its winning formula anytime soon and has also tied down president Mark Donovan and general manager Brett Veach through 2029.

The Chiefs keeping their Super Bowl-winning band together for the foreseeable future is a major development ahead of their bid for an unprecedented three-peat next season.

And Patrick Mahomes couldn’t be happier.

The superstar QB caught wind of the news on social media and shared his ecstatic one-word reaction.

“Yessir”, the reigning Super Bowl MVP posted, along with two flexed bicep emojis.

Reid is one of the greatest minds in the game and has been with the Chiefs since 2013, following 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He has won three Super Bowls and ranks fourth all time in regular-season wins with 258, trailing only Don Shula (328), George Halas (318) and Bill Belichick (302).

His most recent Super Bowl success came in February’s Big Game when some late-game Mahomes heroics secured a 25-22 victory against the 49ers.

KC became the first team to win back-to-back Lombardi Trophys since the 2004 New England Patriots.

Next season, they can do something not even Brady’s Patriots managed – win their third consecutive Super Bowl.

Speculation was rife that Reid could walk away from the sport after last season’s success.

However, he has decided to stick around until the age of 71 to ensure his Chiefs dynasty goes down in the history books.

“I’m incredibly grateful to chairman and [CEO] Clark [Hunt] and the entire Hunt family for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic franchise,” Reid said in a statement released by the team.

“Over the last 11 years, Tammy and I have enjoyed calling Kansas City our home. The community has embraced us, we’ve watched our family grow, including having all 12 grandkids during our time here.

“On the field, there have been so many people that have contributed to our success and Super Bowls, and I’m grateful to the players, coaches and staff that have all invested their time into this process. I’d also like to thank my agent, Bob LaMonte. Chiefs Kingdom is a special place and I’m blessed to have the opportunity to be here.”

Mahomes will lead the bid for a three-peat next season alongside running mate Travis Kelce.

Ex rugby union start Louis Rees-Zammit has also joined their ranks and will be looking to make a big splash in his rookie season.

Reid has big plans for LRZ – if he makes it to Week 1.
