KC’s quarterback has become a symbol of leadership and an inspiration for generations to come.
The Kansas City Chiefs are building a new dynasty in the NFL. They’ve won three titles in the last five seasons and 2024 could be the year they make history by winning the three-peat.
However, none of this would be possible without Patrick Mahomes, the best quarterback in the league today.
He was named one of the most influential people of 2024 by TIME magazine. Further proof of the QB’s impact on the game and off the field.
Mahomes on whether he can be considered the GOAT
When you think about who’s the GOAT in the NFL, the first person that comes to mind is Tom Brady. But that doesn’t mean that Mahomes isn’t getting closer to fitting into this discussion. Some people are already labelling him the Greatest Of All Time.
At the age of 28, the signal-caller has collected great achievements and awards. Besides three Super Bowls, he has won three SB MVP titles and two regular season MVP trophies. He has led the NFL in passing touchdowns twice, appeared in six Pro Bowls and twice on the first-team All-Pro.
In an interview for TIME magazine, Pat Mahomes gave his perspective on his GOAT status in the league. According to him, he is “nowhere near” this position.
“You have to build a consistency of a career,” claimed.
“You see that in any sport. I’ve had a great run. I think I’ve done a great job so far. But it’s hard to take away from what Tom did for so long, what Peyton Manning did, or Aaron Rodgers. There are so many guys, they were at such a high level for such a long time. In order to be in that conversation, you have to do that on a year-to-year basis. You can’t take it for granted that you did it the year before.”
The defending champion thinks that this is a topic to be discussed when he decides to stop playing american football. “That’s something I’ll talk about when I’m done playing. Then people can make those decisions.”
QB’s importance to be remembered
Apart from all the comparisons, the ‘who’s better?’ debates, the Chiefs’ idol is committed to consolidating the next NFL dynasty – starting with next season, which could set KC up for a landmark accomplishment in the entire history of the game.
Mahomes admits that when he decides to retire, he wants to do so with a clear conscience, knowing that he has always given his best.
“At the end of my time, I just want to say that I didn’t leave anything out there,” he says. “My family and football are the first things I want to be great at. If I can go out there and say that I gave everything I had on the football field, expectations are what they are and whatever is going to happen is going to happen. And I can be satisfied with that.”
