Wheel of Fortune hopeful Eboni made a costly blunder in a recent episode of the hit show which forced host Pat Sajak to apologise for her awkward mishap
One Wheel of Fortune contestant found themselves in a huge blunder in a recent episode, which left fans angry and annoyed.
Airing on television on Wednesday night (April 19), contestant Eboni made a mistake when she asked for a letter on a puzzle despite another contestant having already asked for the same one.
Eboni asked host Pat Sajak for the letter “T” on a puzzle moments after Frank, another player competing on the gameshow, already asked for “T”.
This came after the three players, Eboni, Frank and Kylie spun the wheel and started to guess a four-word puzzle, which was under the category of “Event”.
Frank kicked off guessed with “T”, but was soon realised there wasn’t a “T” in the four-word puzzle.
Kylie then guessed an “I” correctly and then an “L”, which there were none of, before Eboni had a go at guessing.
Spinning the infamous wheel for $700, Eboni was overjoyed when she blurted out the letter “T”, which was met with silence from the studio audience.
Pat, who knew that Frank had already said the letter, quickly said: “That has a familiar ring to it, yeah, I’m sorry.”
Taking to Twitter in response to the blunder, one viewer penned: “Wtf is wrong w [sic] this woman? Haha. Goes bankrupt when she could solve and now calls a letter that’s already up there?”
With Eboni losing out on winning the gameshow, Frank went on to scoop a prize pot of $19,000, with him also bagging a dreamy tropical vacation.
Wheel of Fortune is a beloved gameshow in the US, with it having aired on television continuously since January 1975.
The show features a competition in which contestants solve word puzzles, similar to the puzzles seen in a game of hangman, to win cash and prizes, which is all determined by spinning a giant carnival-style wheel.
Host Pat is best known as the host of the host of the gameshow, which is a position he has held since 1981.
Fronting the gameshow has seen Pat pick up 19 nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host, winning a total three times.
And it seems as though Pat will remain in the job for the foreseeable – or at least until the end of this year – because in September 2021, it was announced that he had signed on to continue as a host of Wheel of Fortune through the 2023 season – which is its 24th season in total.
