Wheel of Fortune viewers expressed their frustration with the choice of ‘phrase’ chosen for the bonus round in a recent episode.
Friday saw contestant Connor Kemmsies powering his way through the competition, with the commercial pilot making it to the episode’s final challenge in the hopes of winning what could be a life-changing amount of cash.
The contestant, who hails from Lakeside, California, chose a phrase and had his work cut out for him when the letters, R, S, T, L, N and E didn’t provide much help.
After her chose the letters C, M, D, and A, the board read: ‘_ D _ D M _ _ _ M E _ _ R _’.
Conner got the first part of the phrase but wasn’t able to figure out the last word.
Host Ryan Seacrest revealed that the answer was, ‘I DID MY HOMEWORK,’ and Connor was clearly disappointed as he joked: ‘Aw, dude, I don’t do homework anymore.’

His failure to guess the answer meant that he missed out on the $40,000 bonus cash prize.
However, Connor did walk away with $19,080 in cash as well as a six-day whale-watching cruise to Baja, California.
Viewers took to the comment section on YouTube after the show to share their thoughts about the phrase as one wrote: ‘Took me a little bit, but got it. But “I did my homework” is not a phrase. “You didn’t do your homework” however, is a notable phrase.’
Another agreed: ‘That wasn’t a phrase. That was a normal sentence.’
‘That was a tough puzzle to figure out,’ one fan commented, while another wrote: ‘This was hard.’
One fan noted: ‘Couldn’t think of anything but dad but I think two players is better than one.’
Meanwhile, others had no issue with the phrase as one argued: ‘It absolutely is a phrase since “I did my homework” does not literally mean you did homework. It can also mean you prepared well for something.’
Another wrote: ‘I got it, but I don’t blame him. It took me a bit to get it. Oh well, he won anyway.’
