Wheel of Fortune fans rip new twist as ‘terrible’ and ‘unfair’ as contestants go on 13-day losing streak for bonus round

WHEEL of Fortune fans aren’t happy with a new twist, with it being branded as ‘terrible’ and ‘unfair’.
Instead of three strangers competing against each other on the Wheel of Fortune in a bid to win as much money as possible, Bragging Rights is an all new twist.

The new twist sees three friends go up against one another other to earn bragging rights among their friendship circle as well as money.
But fans aren’t too happy with the new theme and twist.
On X, one person said: “Bragging rights is such a dumb way to play wheel of fortune. The show is largely based on dumb luck. It’s not jeopardy, it’s pick a random letter and hope for the best.”
Meanwhile, on Reddit, one person said: “I hate this bragging rights thing.”

“Like that Wheel is trying something different, but bragging rights is pretty terrible. Tonight’s male contestant was such a turn off,” said a second.
Another person then said: “And the BONUS Round losing streak is now at an unlucky 13 (excluding Celebrity Wheel Bonus Round wins), so we could be between 15 to 20 consecutive losses before we get a bonus round win.”
While a fourth slammed: “That final puzzle was ridiculous.”
A fifth then added: “Too much yammering. I don’t care for the banter at all.”
And a sixth penned: “It was all kinda cringy.”
Some fans were positive about it too, with one writing: “I actually like this a lot. It’s new and different and it’s fun.”
Celebrity Wheel of Fortune fans wish Pat Sajak ‘never retired’ in triumphant comeback after Ryan Seacrest took over gig
And another saying: “I actually love the concept of the 3 players knowing each other! But agree that there is too much banter, but the whole season has been too much talking to contestants and fewer puzzles.”
The show’s twist was announced earlier this week in a social media post.
“It’s a friendly wheel rivalry all this week as we introduce something new,” host Ryan Seacrest, who took over from Pat Sajak last fall, said in an Instagram video.
Vanna White then added: “For the first time, our groups of contestants know each other. They are all wheel fans who watch the show together.”
Wheel of Fortune’s big changes
The game show has undergone a major transformation now that Ryan Seacrest has taken over hosting duties for Pat Sajak.
-Ryan and Vanna White now host on a brand-new set, featuring a blue-toned stage, a green screen and art-deco wheel design.
-Ryan and Vanna make their big entrance from behind new sliding, brightly lit doors.
-Vanna turns – or now, touches – a modern, digital puzzle board controlled by lasers.
-Ryan brings a new hosting style, and has ditched Pat’s signature cue cards.
-The prizes have also been upgraded, and now include tickets to NFL games, and tickets to A-list concerts.
Ryan continued: “And tonight not only are they playing for cash and prizes, but also for the ultimate victory: bragging rights.”
The caption of the video read, “We’re spicing things up this week with a brand new way of playing wheel!”
The show shakeup comes as Wheel of Fortune has been struggling in ratings compared to rival ABC game show Jeopardy!, which airs right before.
For the week of March 3 to March 9, Jeopardy! had 8,902,000 viewers tune in, according to Nielsen.
Wheel of Fortune trailed behind in the number two spot with 8,477,000 viewers.
