Wheel of Fortune fans discover the ‘real reason’ why Ryan Seacrest didn’t make the final spin

Wheel of Fortune fans spot ‘real reason why’ Ryan Seacrest doesn’t do final spin as they weigh-in on break in tradition

WHEEL of Fortune fans have been left confused over a segment of the hit gameshow.

Wheel of Fortune is currently in its 42nd series, with the gameshow catapulting back onto our screens in September with a brand new host.

At the start of the fall, Ryan Seacrest joined the iconic gameshow as its new host, which followed the retirement of Pat Sajak.

But now, several weeks into the current series, one fan has shared how they are baffled by a segment of the show.

The confused fan took to Reddit to ask a question about the newbie host.

“Why doesn’t Ryan Seacrest do the final spin?” they asked.

They then added: “Shouldn’t it be tradition that the host do the final spin? I’m assuming he can’t reach the wheel?”

Someone then weighed in with: “I think Pat used to do final spin, but then at some point, it was the contestant in command of the wheel.”

A third added: “Pat stopped doing the final spin a few seasons back.”

While a fourth echoed: “Same reason Pat stopped, you must be new here.”

And another added, “Pat did used to do the final spin, but that changed in S39, allowing contestants who had control of the Wheel give the final spin.”

NEW HOST WITH THE MOST

Pat Sajak used to host the show with Vanna White but last year he announced he would be stepping down, after 40 years at the helm, and retired in June of this year.

Ryan was then announced as the new host in the summer, with him saying he was “truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak”.

“Pat Sajak is such a legend. He makes it look so easy and smooth and seamless. He’s remarkable,” Ryan previously gushed.

When Ryan took over from Pat back in September, fans were quick to share their thoughts on the new series, with not everyone best pleased.

‘OVER THE TOP’

“Does anyone besides me feel like the entire new WoF is just over the top?” asked one fan on Reddit at the time.

Wheel of Fortune’s big changes

The game show has undergone a major transformation now that Ryan Seacrest has taken over hosting duties for Pat Sajak.

-Ryan and Vanna White now host on a brand-new set, featuring a blue-toned stage, a green screen and art-deco wheel design.

-Ryan and Vanna make their big entrance from behind new sliding, brightly lit doors.

-Vanna turns – or now, touches – a modern, digital puzzle board controlled by lasers.

-Ryan brings a new hosting style, and has ditched Pat’s signature cue cards.

-The prizes have also been upgraded, and now include tickets to NFL games, and tickets to A-list concerts.

They continued: “From the set, to the contestants’ outfits, and even the contestants’ behavior. Especially the male contestant tonight. To me, it’s almost like they are actors. It feels unnaturally ‘extra’.”

Someone then replied: “I was afraid this would happen after Pat retired. Wheel of Fortune is following the trend of overproduction and fake emotion.

“Tonight’s episode especially, you feel dizzy and overwhelmed from all the cuts and noises from contestants. You can barely follow the puzzle.”

The fan concluded: “Maybe the ratings don’t support this, but I’ve always preferred authentic emotions. You don’t want snoozefest contestants, but authenticity is nice.”
