Watch the Soulful Cowgirl With the Surprising Sound Who Gets a Four-Chair on ‘The Voice’

The Blind Auditions continue on Night 3 of The Voice as coaches Reba McEntireGwen StefaniSnoop Dogg and Michael Bublé continue to battle each other to land the best of the best for their teams, which this season will be comprised of 14 artists each.

Enter 21-year-old cowgirl Georgia Starnes from Dallas, TX, who tells viewers, “Right now I’m feeling so excited. This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for, for a really long time, and this could really change my life. People are kind of surprised when I sing. I don’t think they’re expecting my sound. I’m so close to tasting what it feels like to achieve your dream.”

Toward that goal, Georgia, wearing a cowgirl hat, surprises everyone by not going country but performing Sam Smith’s soulful “Too Good at Goodbyes.”

“I love being shocked in this competition,” Michael tells her. “You don’t look like the sound that comes out of your body. I did not expect this. I feel like we have that in common because when I start to sing, people expect an 80-year-old white guy. Georgia, you have a great voice, you have great control, great tone, I love your hat. I would love to be your coach. We think you can become a star.”

Then it’s Gwen’s turn to try to woo Georgia. She says, “I love you. I think you’re really talented. I want to know a little about you. Have you been performing since you were little?”

Georgia answers, “I have been singing since I could talk, and I have been gigging around a lot lately in L.A.”

Gwen continues her pitch, “That’s amazing. If I were your coach, if you pick me, identity is everything. That’s what music is all about, touching each other’s souls with our stories. I would love to help you find that. Team Gwen right here.”

Then it was Reba’s turn to court Georgia, and she started out by complimenting her hat, as Michael had done.

“You rock a cowboy hat really well,” Reba said, causing Georgia to explain, “I dabble a little in country, too. I like the Chris Stapleton vibe.”

Reba continued, “You were so good, I had to turn around. I hear somebody’s music and a voice that I love, and you hear it but you want to see what the whole package is. You look terrific and you sounded wonderful. Whoever you pick, you’re going to have a blast on The Voice. This is a fun place to be.”

Then last, but certainly not least, Snoop got in his pitch, and he started it melodically singing “Georgia, Georgia,” as if he was going to sing “Georgia on My Mind.”

Then he got down to business, “I hit the button because I was, ‘This is amazing. What could be connected to this voice?’ When I turned around, I was, ‘Wait a minute! That’s what come with that?’ You sound amazing. Your stage presence, the way you hold a note, I would love to find a way to put you in a position to be all that you can be because I see it, I believe it, but it can only happen if you become a part of Coach Snoop’s team.”

Michael could tell that Snoop had given Georgia something to think about, so he jumped back into salesmen mode saying, “I feel for you because it is so easy to be seduced by Snoop, or Reba, or Gwen. I love all the things they had to say, and the truth is, she was right. We need to take you to that place where people know what they’re getting, so the record company signs you, they know how to market you, so that the music you write works for you, and I feel that I can help you to establish yourself in that way. I really do. So, I hope you chose my team.”

Gwen wasn’t going to let that go without a second word, so she said, “Hold on, Georgia. I am the longest of all the coaches to be here on The Voice, so if you want someone with a lot of Voice experience, right here.”

And then Snoop decided to have the final word, telling Georgia, “Not only was I signed to Death Row Records in 1992, but I am now the owner of Death Row Records.”

So, saying, he held up the bling necklace he is giving as gifts to entice her, adding, “It would fit so nice around your neck.”

Finally, Georgia had to decide on her coach. She said, “This is so hard because I know y’all have something amazing to bring. I know you do, but I have to go with my gut instinct and that’s Snoop.”

And ecstatic Snoop added, “Georgia, her voice is priceless. The plan for Georgia is to dive deep into places she would like to go.”

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.
