LeBron James appeared on the JJ Redick Podcast earlier today and said that growing up, it was his dream to play for Huggins at Cincinnati. “I love Cincinnati! With (Steve) Logan and Ruben Patterson and Kenyon Martin and all of those guys, and then when Kenny Satterfield stepped in and DerMarr Johnson…it was like, I don’t know, I remember watching them as a kid, I remember growing up I wanted to play at Cincinnati because of the uniforms and because of Huggs.”
However, LeBron James instead opted to enter the 2003 NBA Draft and was selected #1 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Huggins was forced to resign as the head coach at Cincinnati 2 years ago after being arrested for his first DUI.
