In a clip from the final episode, Tom Brady is shown alongside Patriots owner Robert Kraft and former head coach Bill Belichick as they recall his exit from the team in 2020.
Kraft shared his memory of the moment Brady told him it was time for him to move on.
“When he walked in the room, he said ‘I’ve decided to move on,'” Kraft recalled.
“And as soon as he said it, he started crying, and his crying told me everything I needed to know.”
Brady battled through tears as his segment started and he relived calling Belichick to say he wasn’t coming back to the team.
“When Bill answered it was emotional,” Brady said.
“It’s because, again, it’s that chapter coming to an end, and I expressed that to Bill too.”
Belichick appeared to tell his version of the story next, and appeared much less emotional than Brady and Kraft.
The 71-year-old said he expected Brady was going to leave and felt it was the right decision.
“I would say that’s kind of what I expected,” Belichick said.
“Saying goodbye is always hard, and I loved coaching Tom, loved having him on our football team at that point in time.
“I think he made the right and the best decision.”
Brady offered an emotional reflection on his time in New England as a whole, saying it was hard but also great.
“Life is very imperfect, and relationships are imperfect, but I’m very proud of our journey,” Brady said while choked up.
“It was hard, but, um, it was great.”
