Things are heating up on Season 26 of The Voice, as the competition moved into the Knockouts this week. One contestant, however, chose to leave the show. What happened to Tanner Frick?

Why Did Tanner Frick Leave The Voice?

During Episode 12 of The Voice, which saw the contestants facing off in the three-way Knockouts round, it was announced that Frick, from Team Bublé, had left the show after rehearsals for undisclosed reasons. In his absence, there was a two-way knockout between Cameron Wright and Sloane Simon.

When it was time for Michael Bublé to select his team, host Carson Daly told him, “Michael, Tanner left the competition after rehearsals. You still have Cameron and Sloane.” Bublé chose Wright as the Knockouts winner and used his save to keep Simon on his team.

So far, NBC hasn’t provided a statement and Frick has yet to address the reason why he left The Voice.

Frick did, however, post a cryptic message on his TikTok and Instagram accounts hours before the episode. “Ain’t nobody want me anyway,” he captioned the video, but it’s unclear if this was referencing The Voice in some way or simply noting the name of a new song.

Tanner Frick on The Voice Season 26

Frick is a 26-year-old country singer from Brandon, Miss., who lives in Manchester, Tenn. During The Voice Blind Auditions, he sang Morgan Wallen’s “Thought You Should Know” and received a four-chair turn.

“I picked this song because it’s very inspiring that he started here and now look at him,” Frick said of Wallen, who competed on Team Adam Levine in 2014, but was eliminated in the Playoffs. He added, “He’s one of the biggest country artists in the world. If he can do it, anybody can do it.”

Frick chose Team Reba. He was paired with country singer Tate Renner, singing Jelly Roll’s “Need a Favor” for the Battles, with McEntire choosing Renner as the winner.

Bublé then stole Frick, noting, “Tanner Frick is a huge win for me. That’s a 4-Chair Turn, and a piece of the puzzle that I didn’t have. I needed that country singer, and now I feel like I’m completely in the game, and my team is assembled.”

While it’s currently unclear why Frick quit, he’s not the first to leave the competition. In October 2018, Cody Ray Raymond left before the Knockouts rounds due to “personal matters.” During Season 19, Ryan Gallagher was reportedly removed from The Voice after he allegedly broke the show’s COVID-19 protocols. In Season 23, Alex Whalen left due to “personal reasons.” In Season 24, Tom Nitti left for personal reasons.

Frick also seemed to show his support for the show, despite leaving. He reposted fellow contestant Jeremy Beloate’s Instagram post announcing the beginning of the Knockouts battle with the remaining contestants.

Fans are understandably concerned for Frick and, given the lack of information about his exit, are speculating why he might have quit. In a Reddit discussion about The Voice departure, one fan noted, “My guess (I could be very wrong) is it’s something family related. He was talking about his parents during the blind audition so that must’ve been very important for him to leave.”

In another Reddit discussion, a fan noted, “I found something that said he was promoting other stuff on Instagram and that live gets in the way. So I think he just left. But he hasn’t officially said why.”
