Jason ‘Sundance’ Head, the winner of The Voice season 11, narrowly escaped a potentially fatal gunshot wound.
He was released from the hospital a day after suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen while at his ranch in Texas. His wife, Misty Head, shared details about her husband’s recovery and posted a photo of his bullet-riddled tank top on Facebook.
She wrote: “He was released late last night [and] we got home very early this morning.” Misty added that the journey home was tough for him as his medication wore off and he bled heavily through his dressings.
Despite the challenges, they managed to get Sundance, 46, home safely and change his dressings, although she admitted he was “not an easy patient.”

She wanted to share the image of his bloodied clothing to highlight “how lucky he was,” noting: “Any higher or lower would have been devastating,” reports the Express US.
She expressed gratitude for all the messages, prayers, and calls, saying: “God is AWESOME.”
TMZ reported that the singer was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, Texas, on Friday. According to Misty, the accident happened when Sundance was hunting alone on the ranch.
“He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off,” she recalled in her Facebook post. “Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging.”
Misty noted that the “bullet went in above his navel and lodged into his abdominal wall missing all vital organs,” adding that, “He will not require surgery as they are not removing the bullet.”
She continued: “Him being on the bigger side was a good thing. Bullet is in his fatty tissue.”
Sundance was on Blake Shelton’s team during The Voice in 2016 and won the eleventh season of the show. Other judges that season were Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus, and Alicia Keys.
