The Voice reveal surprise judge as celebrity guest joins McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones on ITV show

Perrie Edwards is set to surprise contestants on ITV’s The Voice this Saturday night to help decide who is being sent home from the competition.

Joining McFly’s Tom Fletcher, 39, and Danny Jones, 38, the Little Mix singer, is a surprise guest on this week’s show.

The first judge duo on the show, Tom and Danny, reveal to their team of contestants during rehearsals that they’ve recruited Perrie, 31.

In an exclusive clip, Danny said: ‘Unfortunately we can only take three of you to the semifinal, and the two of us couldn’t decide on our own, we have brought a friend to help us, Perrie Edwards.’

Perrie says: ‘Nothing is scarier than auditioning, it’s so intense and your thoughts are going in overdrive and it’s really scary so I’m intrigued to see how they handle their nerves under pressure today.’

The contestants were then given the Nirvana song Smells Like Teen Spirit to perform to the three.

Edwards’s appearance comes as she released her latest single You Go Your Way this week.

She revealed her new song is rooted in a pivotal moment in Perrie’s relationship with her now-fiancé, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 31.

At the start of their romance, Perrie was concerned about the pressures of a new relationship as she prepared to tour in the US and suggested they go their separate ways.

‘I told Alex, you go your way and I’ll go mine, and if it’s meant to be, we’ll find each other again when I’m back,’ Perrie explained of the new song to the BBC this week.

‘Fast forward eight years and we’re very happy, engaged, and have our beautiful son. I truly believe if you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours.’

The couple have been dating since 2016 but they didn’t go public with their romance until February 2017.

The pair matched on celebrity dating app Raya in November 2014 but only went on a couple of dates before Perrie had to embark on a three-month US tour with Little Mix and Ariana Grande.

They then welcomed son Axel in August 2021 before Axel popped the question almost a year later.

The Black Magic singer also told how she was ‘in a circus’ at the moment following the release of her latest song and that she suffers from ‘mum-guilt’.

She said: ‘I’m in a circus right now juggling so much. Being a mum and not getting the mum guilt while also wanting a solo career and also doing promo and visiting my partner in Turkey.

‘It’s a lot and I can’t even sugar coat it. It is hard.’

The singer then revealed that her dream is to get back on tour and to start performing again after taking some time to focus on her family.
