Alyssa Farah Griffin Slams Kayleigh McEnany as ‘Liar & Opportunist’ in Heated Rant

The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin has publicly criticized her former colleague, Kayleigh McEnany, in an intense rant, calling her a “liar” and an “opportunist.” The tension between the two stems from their respective roles during the Trump administration, where Farah Griffin served as communications director, and McEnany as press secretary.

In a testimony released by the House January 6 committee, Farah Griffin was asked about McEnany’s role following the 2020 presidential election. When questioned about McEnany’s response to the election results—whether she gracefully accepted the loss or facilitated the “big lie”—Farah Griffin did not hold back.

As a devout Christian, Farah Griffin stated, “Kayleigh is a liar and an opportunist,” adding that McEnany’s decision to continue supporting the false claims that the election was stolen was driven by a personal ambition. “This is not an idiot. She knew we lost the election,” Farah Griffin continued. “But she made a calculation that she wanted to have a certain life post-Trump that required staying in his good graces. And that was more important to her than telling the truth to the American public.”

Farah Griffin, who did not confront McEnany directly about the issue at the time, acknowledged that she did not believe addressing it would have been productive. However, her comments have certainly stirred up controversy, especially as McEnany has always maintained that she did not lie during her time as press secretary.

In May 2020, McEnany famously promised, “I will never lie to you” when asked whether she would pledge to be truthful from the White House podium. She reiterated her commitment to honesty in June 2021, stating she “never lied” while serving under Trump. McEnany, who now works as a Fox News host, has written a memoir, For Such a Time as This: My Faith Journey Through the White House and Beyond, where she claims her background at prestigious institutions like Oxford, Harvard, and Georgetown has equipped her to always rely on “truthful, well-sourced, well-researched information.”

Farah Griffin and McEnany both testified before the January 6 committee, sharing their experiences from their time working in the Trump administration. However, Farah Griffin’s recent remarks add a new layer of division between the two former colleagues.

When approached for a response, a Fox representative for McEnany declined to comment. The public feud highlights the ongoing fallout from the aftermath of the 2020 election, as both women continue to navigate their careers in the political and media spheres.

The pair both gave testimonies about their time in office to the House January 6 committee – and the transcripts were released by the panel on Thursday.

In hers, Farah Griffin let loose on new mum McEnany, accusing her of helping Trump, 76, perpetuate false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

Asked in her testimony where McEnany “fell” after the 2020 election and whether she had an attitude of “hey, we lost, let’s gracefully exit,” or “let’s facilitate the big lie,” Farah Griffin blasted: “I am a Christian woman, so I will say this,

“Kayleigh is a liar and an opportunist.”

She went on to say that McEnany, who has not addressed the comments in public, is a “Harvard law grad,” before adding: “This is not an idiot. She knew we lost the election.

“But she made a calculation that she wanted to have a certain life post-Trump that required staying in his good graces.

“And that was more important to her than telling the truth to the American public.”

The former comms director admitted she never confronted McEnany on the matter, saying she didn’t think “it would have been constructive”.

But McEnany, who became a Fox News host after leaving the White House, has previously addressed whether she lied while working for Trump.

In May 2020, she stood behind the White House podium for the first time and promised to tell the truth to the American press.

She was asked, “will you pledge to never lie to us from that podium?”

“I will never lie to you,” McEnany said, per The Guardian. “You have my word on that.”

In June 2021 she maintained that she “never lied” as press secretary.

The new mom, who recently gave birth to her second child, has also released a memoir named For Such a Time as This: My Faith Journey Through the White House and Beyond.

Her book reiterates the claim she has never lied to reporters, partly because of her education at “Oxford, Harvard and Georgetown.”

She noted this meant she always relied on “truthful, well-sourced, well-researched information.”

Like Farah Griffin, McEnany also spoke to the January 6 committee.

Farah Griffin, who said she never confronted McEnany with the claims she made in her testimony though they did work together, left the White House in December 2020.

When approached for comment, a Fox representative for Kayleigh McEnany declined to comment.
