‘The View’ Whoopi’s Shocking Response To Carrie Underwood Singing At Inauguration

The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg has a shocking response to Carrie Underwood’s personal political stance. After Carrie’s announcement she would be singing for President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, Whoopi let her opinion slip but then retracted it.

The View Panelist Weigh In On Carrie Underwood’s Decision To Sing On Inauguration Day

Undeniably, Carrie Underwood’s decision to sing at President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fell flat with The View panelists. The only panelist who thought it was somewhat of a good move was Alyssa Farah Griffin. Seemingly, Carrie is trying to unite America and Alyssa thinks it was a good move. Furthermore, she believes America needs to move past “canceling” someone’s livelihood over politics. But Joy Behar asserts she “wouldn’t do it” if she was Carrie. Likewise, several others echoed that while they “haven’t been asked” to sing, they would reject the invite if it was for Donald Trump. While the subject almost ended as soon as it started, Whoopi Goldberg made a splash with her response to Carrie’s choice.

Whoopi Goldberg’s Shocking Response To Carrie Underwood

Although Whoopi Goldberg started the hot topic with an unsupportive tone pointing out that Carrie Underwood normally stays out of politics, she came around after some of the panel’s discussion. Sunny Hostin took a more even approach to the matter at first. She said, “I think art is art and you have a right to perform where you want to perform.” However, she snidely adds, “I can’t sing a lick and I have not been asked, but if I were asked, it would be a hard no.”

Whoopi snarks that none of the panelists were being asked to sing. Attempting to be open-minded, she quickly retracted and tried to support the idea that people have the right to choose. She said, “People do what they do for whatever reasons. I stand behind her.” Although she doesn’t agree with Carrie she flips the script. She says, “If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform someplace, I believe they have the same right. I have to support.” Another panelist interjects, “Or not.” Whoopi clarifies, “Not ‘Or no.” Instead, she strongly holds to her opinion to support others’ rights.

Whoopi Goldberg Returns To Her Anti-Inauguration Day Stance

However, Whoopi Goldberg revisits her opinion about Carrie Underwood’s choice. She adds, “It doesn’t mean I’m particularly interested. I won’t be watching. But that’s me.” Jokingly, Sunny Hostin declared she would be skipping the inauguration and for a “spa day” instead. Furthermore, the panel noted Inauguration Day falls on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, making it feel like a slap in the face. Joy Behar comments, “As long as it’s a free country and it holds, I would agree with everybody. It is a free country at the moment.”

Carrie Underwood’s Decision May Benefit Her Career

However, Alyssa Farah Griffin points out that Carrie Underwood will probably make good money off her decision. But Joy Behar is stanch in her resistance. She says, “I would not normalize him. She says, ‘I love our country.’ How do you love our country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon and really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?” Furthermore, Joy states, “I don’t understand how you say you love your country, at the same time you normalize this convicted felon, which I can say now every day.”

On X, one user says, “I will no longer listen to anything [Underwood] sings or says.”
Another commenter notes, “It won’t hurt her one bit.”
Someone else adds, “They are talking about the President of the United States. These women should be canned immediately. They should try to unite us – not make more of a division. Sad day.”
