The Price Is Right contestant reveals her shock after unexpected twist when trying to claim her prize

Samara Leilani Metzer appeared on the CBS series in October when she won a 2024 Nissan Sentra – or so she thought.

Months after her episode aired, however, Samara was to find out that she wouldn’t be taking home the car she thought she would – and was informed that she could choose which make she wanted instead.

As a result, Samara opted to swap it for a 2025 Toyota Camry LSE, which set her back $15,138.

In a series of videos of TikTok videos, she explained what really happens after the cameras stop rolling on the show, and just how long she had to wait for her prize to come through.

In one video posted on her profile, Samara said: ‘I win my car and then I immediately go backstage to sign paperwork and stuff to say I’m going to claim the car.

‘What they don’t tell you is that when this person contacts you, they’re a fleet dealer.’

‘For months, up until my show aired, when the guy contacted me after, I thought I was just getting a 2024 Nissan Sentra and that was it,’ she continued.

‘So, when he calls me and asks if I know what type of car that I want and I said don’t I just have to get a 2024 Nissan Sentra?

‘And he’s like, no. Look at my business card I sent you. Any of those dealerships, you can get a car from there and the value of the Nissan Sentra just goes towards whatever car that you pick.’

Samara was given the option to choose from a range of car manufacturers, including Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Infinity, Toyota, Nissan, and Porshe.

She said that after many recommendations from her social media followings, she and her boyfriend went to their closest Toyota dealership and that she quickly fell in love with the Camry LSE model.

And, after some deliberation, Samara decided that she wanted to buy the car and add her own modifications.

‘I am a brand new driver,’ she explained.

‘I never have owned a car and so it makes way too much sense for me to get $23,000 off of a car if I want to own a car.

‘I want to own a car, I don’t want to lease a car. So, perfect situation for me. If I can pick a car and this car is gonna last me forever because it’s a Toyota, I might as well get nicer options.

‘The overall price of the car with everything is $38,906. So, the unpaid balance that I have to pay off is $15,138, which for a brand new car 2025 is great. Not the car I won on the show.’

Samara’s followers were quick to praise her for the decision to trade in her win.

One wrote: ‘A brand new Toyota for 15K? I would’ve RAN to the dealership and signed my name.’

‘Congratulations on the win and your very smart decision,’ another said. ‘From a very “seasoned” car owner the key to keeping your car for a very long time is maintenance.’

A third added: ‘That is a great deal! We swapped over to Toyota a few years back, and the reliability is leaps and bounds better than anything else out there.’

The Price is Right is television’s longest-running game show, featuring host Drew Carey, where audience members try to win cash and prizes.
