Taylor Swift ‘shades’ Kim Kardashian with hidden message in new album

The singer appears to have taken a swipe at Kim Kardashian and her daughter North West in one of the songs on her new album.

Taylor Swift is ushering in a new era with her most anticipated album yet, hot on the heels of Swift’s record-breaking Eras world tour’s Australian leg.

Taylor Swift has been accused of “shading” Kim Kardashian in a song on her new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The singer, 34, appeared to take a swipe at Kim, 43, and her daughter North West, 10, in her 24th track, ‘thanK you aIMee’.

Fans online noticed that the capital letters in the 24th track off the new album – which dropped on Friday – spell out “Kim.”

Taylor has famously been locked in a bitter feud with the Skims founder and her ex-husband Kanye West, 46, for years, The Sun reports.

“There’s a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it / That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school,” she sings in one line.

In another part of the song, she sings, “And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues.

“And one day, your kid comes home singin’ a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.

“’Cause all that time you were throwing punches.”

She appeared to be alluding to Kim and North dancing to Taylor’s 2014 hit, Shake It Off, on their joint TikTok in January 2023.

The song received mixed feedback online, with some praising it while others told Taylor to “move on.”

“She needs to grow, she is like 32? And still shading people for a drama that happened eight years ago. Just solve the problem as adults pls,” one wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“She’s still not over it? It’s been years,” another pointed out and a third wrote, “Girl move on. It’s been eight years.”

“Kim is over omg,” someone else wrote and another added, “Oh Kanye and Kim you’re ended again…”

Others poked fun at what they assumed would be Kris Jenner’s reaction to the track, sharing gifs of the momager looking horrified.

War of words

Taylor and Kim’s feud began after Kanye famously ran up on the VMAs stage in 2009 interrupting Taylor’s Best Female Video win for her hit, ‘You Belong With Me’.

He grabbed the mic out of Taylor’s hand and said, “Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish … but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

In the years that followed, they released songs that took jabs at each other.

The Yeezy rapper dropped his song “Famous,” which included the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous.”

Taylor said she had never approved being called “that b***” – despite Kanye insisting he had run all the lyrics past her.

Kim shared a supposed phone call where Taylor appeared to agree to her name being used.

“She totally approved that, she wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t,” she told GQ.

Taylor insisted that wasn’t the full recording of the call and was vindicated in 2020 when the unedited version of her and Kanye’s call was leaked.

She later revealed that the feud with Kanye and Kim “took her down psychologically,” and made her “push people away.”

The ‘Cruel Summer’ hit maker reflected on their war of words when she was crowned Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023.

“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year,” she told the outlet.
