Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez experienced some adorable friendship moments while attending the MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey on Tuesday.

The Bad Blood hitmaker, 33, and the Only Murders in the Building star, 31, have been longstanding friends and were seen enjoying a heartfelt hug at the celebrity-studded event.

Both cheered each other on from the audience as they won accolades, Gomez for Best Afrobeats Video for her ‘Calm Down’ duet with Rema and Swift for Anti-Hero, which got four.

While Gomez accepted her prize, Swift enthusiastically cheered her on, standing in the front row and urged others around her to cheer and support Selena.

Meanwhile, during Swift’s first acceptance speech of the night, Selena was seen rising up for her pal as a symbol of respect, while those around her stayed seated.

It was the first time the pals had seen one other in public in quite some time.

Taylor and Selena became acquainted in 2008, when they were both dating Jonas Brothers: Taylor dated Joe, and Selena dated Nick.

During a 2017 KIIS FM UK interview, Selena stated that her friendship with Swift was ‘the best thing we got out of those relationships’.

Both women looked stunning at the star-studded event.

Selena looked stunning in a plunging red Oscar de la Renta gown featuring a floral pattern, fringe, and a nude underlayer.

She wore a gorgeous halter-neck dress with vine-like fringe at the bottom and strappy red heels.

Meanwhile, Taylor showed off her toned legs in a form-fitting black Versace gown with buttons across the torso.

The singer hugged a number of industry friends, including Sabrina Carpenter and Nicki Minaj.
