“Some of You Will Just Be Pissed Off by This“: George R.R. Martin Hits Back at Fans Demanding ‘Winds of Winter’

“I know, I know. Some of you will just be pissed off by this, as you are by everything I announce here that is not about Westeros or The Winds Of Winter. You have given up on me, or on the book” Martin noted. He sarcastically went on to list the usual criticism by fans, “I will never finish WINDS, If I do, I will never finish A DREAM OF SPRING. If I do, it won’t be any good.” He is also aware that some fans feel he’s too old, lost interest or that he doesn’t “give a shit about writing any longer, I just sit around and spend my money.”
But that isn’t the case as Martin then went onto list his other works like editing Wild Cards books, or his other titles like A Song for Lya and Dying Of The Light, Sandkings and Beauty And The Beast, among more “anthologies I edited with my friend Gardner Dozois,” that fans do not care about. Adding, “You don’t care about any of those, I know. You don’t care about anything but WINDS OF WINTER. You’ve told me so often enough.” But Martin admits, “Thing is, I do care about them.” Further reassuring fans, he said:
“And I care about Westeros and WINDS as well. The Starks and Lannisters and Targaryens, Tyrion and Asha, Dany and Daenerys, the dragons and the direwolves, I care about them all. More than you can ever imagine.”
George RR Martin is Working on ‘A Dozen Tough Jobs’

While we still wait for The Winds of Winter, Martin is working on bringing the Greek mythology to our screens in an animated format. Based on the written work of writer Howard Waldrop, the animated movie will be an adaptation of Waldrop’s 1989 novel, A Dozen Tough Jobs. The series is set to transport the mythic tale to 1920s Mississippi, where Hercules is re-imagined as a former sharecropper fighting against bigotry and to regain his freedom.
No release date for The Winds of Winter or A Dozen Tough Jobs is available yet, stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
