Taylor Swift’s fans are inspired to action as they rally behind Vice President Kamala Harris with some of the nominee’s peers, including Sen. Ed Markey, cheering them on
Swifties4Kamala is raising funds for the Democratic nominee
United States Senator Ed Markey is embracing the new wave of voters who are organizing for Vice President Kamala Harris, especially the Swifties.
The Senator joined a rally call for the online community, Swifties4Kamala, which is fundraising and campaigning for the Democratic Presidential nominee. During the call, he addressed fans and impressed them with his knowledge on Taylor Swift lore and even in the interworkings of the fandom.
Following the call, Sen. Markey told The Mirror: “Democrats can’t spend our time agonizing while MAGA Republicans campaign in races all across the country – we have to get out and organize for the future we believe in. I’m inspired by the community that Swifites4Kamala is building online to organize for a better world.”
“When it comes to a Harris-Walz White House—I’m ready for it,” he added, seemingly giving a nod to Taylor’s song …Ready For It? off of her beloved album Reputation. This would be his second cheeky reference to the album with the first occurring live in front of thousands of participants on the call.

He told the fans: “Instead of clowning about the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), we should all be pounding on doors to get out the vote.”
“Clowning” is a term that the online fandoms use when they begin speculating too hard about a potential release or announcement. With Taylor methodically rerecording her old albums in order to win back the rights, fans have been particularly pressed to find out when she’ll be dropping the new version of Reputation which they presume will be next.
They spend quite a bit of time online pondering that question. In fact, the topic often trends on X, formerly known as Twitter, and their sector of the internet is put into frenzies during key dates like Taylor’s Wembley shows or the Grammys where they begin to look for key hints that indicate an announcement is coming. However, Sen. Markey is stressing to them all that they can put that energy elsewhere and prioritize the upcoming election.

Taylor herself has yet to endorse Kamala this election cycle, but she did endorse the Biden-Harris ticket in the 2020 election and was previously outspoken about her dislike for former President Donald Trump. Despite Taylor’s silence, her fans are still coming together in an effort to make a difference. Their work has raised over $144,000 for Kamala’s campaign, according to a press release. Additionally, they drove over 41,000 voter actions.
“We already know that Swifties are a force to be reckoned with, but it’s incredible to see the enthusiasm and the real, meaningful actions being taken,” said April Glick Pulito, Political Director at S4K. “Organizing is work, but our goal is to make it accessible, fun, and demystify it. Talking to people you can build and share connections with is the real grassroots of political change, and it’s inspiring to see so many young people get involved in just one day. Our votes matter, and we’re going to work for the rest of the campaign to make sure our voices are heard in November and beyond.”
