Savannah got emotional when chatting with her book and its contents as well as the inspiration behind it with her co-hosts.

“I was scared, I am scared,” the 52-year-old told Hoda Kotb during the segment.

She admitted she was afraid to put the book out there as well as the vulnerabillity that came along with such an action.

“But I also felt like I just had something good to say about God, and I wanted to say it,” she added.

The Today mainstay was visibly tearing up as she spoke.

She added that some people have said she wrote her book because of a feeling of obligation.

Savannah also mentioned people who have said she has “too many blessings” so that’s why she had to write the book.

“I did it because I wanted to do it, because God made me want to do it,” she said of the naysayers.

GUTHRIE GONE

Savannah has taken an extended break away from her post on the Today Show.

The talk show host admitted that she was “so excited” for her book tour.

Savannah’s recent absences from the morning show have had fans wondering about her whereabouts.

She has been on a book tour around the United States to promote her upcoming release.

Mostly What God Does: Reflecting on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere is the new book by Savannah, 52, which comes out on February 20.

“So so so so excited to announce this book tour in February!! Tickets are on sale now at the link in my bio!! I hope to see you on the road,” she captioned her Instagram post.

Savannah just met fans and signed their book in Charleston, South Carolina, on Sunday.

Her next stop is in New York City on February 22.

She will end the tour in Huntington, New York, and Connecticut on February 27 and 28.

Savannah should be back on Today full time after her tour is over.

ANCHORS AWAY

Savannah was absent on Monday after promoting her book.

However, she wasn’t the only anchor that was missing from Today.

Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin were also absent, due to observing President’s Day.

Saturday Today anchors Laura Jarrett and Peter Alexander filled in for the main hosts.

Al Roker was also absent, so Dylan Dreyer filled in for him to report the weather.

The meteorologist later joined Laura, 40, and Peter, 47, at the desk.

“Both Savannah and Hoda have this President’s Day off,” Peter explained at the beginning of Monday’s program.

SAV’S PAIN

Savannah got emotional during a stop on her book tour as she talked about her late father.

The anchor took part in a discussion about her upcoming book at the George W. Bush Presidential Center with interviewer Charlotte Jones.

Charlotte, 57, the executive vice president and chief brand officer of the Dallas Cowboys, was the guest moderator for the conversation.

“You lost your father when you were 16, and I know that was very traumatic,” Charlotte said, as she approached the difficult topic with Savannah.

“Do you mind taking us back?” the moderator asked.

“Yeah, my father was a larger than life, amazing – I can’t believe you’re making me cry, I haven’t cried about this in a long time – deeply faithful man,” Savannah told Charlotte.

The Today host took a moment to collect herself as she was visibly teary-eyed.

“I can’t believe I’m crying. Darn you Charlotte, you shouldn’t be a Today Show host!” Savannah scolded the moderator.

“You know how many times I tried to make President Bush cry? Never!” she joked, while continuing to cry softly.

Savannah was previously a White House correspondent during the Bush presidency.

Charlotte and the audience laughed at her reaction.

“He was our whole lives, and he passed away,” Savannah explained.

“He had a heart attack, I was 16. I came home one night and he was gone.”

“Losing my dad was a seminal event and I talk a lot about grief in the book,” she ended.
