The 49-year-old TV personality was simply ‘manifesting’ his future in the adorable throwback video.
Ryan Seacrest may not resemble his adolescent self, depending on who you ask, but he surely still acts just the same.
The Wheel of Fortune host and his sister, Meredith Seacrest Leach, announced a big career update with a sweet throwback video from when they were kids.
Their new children’s book is an exciting feature on its own—but the video in the announcement had some fans “freaked out” about how well the 49-year-old was able to “manifest” his childhood dream into his adult reality.
In the joint upload, a child-age Ryan runs up to the camera, squealing, “Ladies and gentlemen, guess what! There’s a party right here, this hour, Sunday,” he continues, “live on TV!”
As a young Meredith cheered in the background, the video cut to a different clip of the two seated in front of a grandfather clock, re-enacting a news broadcast, with Ryan welcoming viewers with the weather forecast for some Friday the 13th. Several other undated throwback clips were spliced in after, showing Ryan seemingly practicing for his future record-setting career as an Emmy-winning on-air personality, pretending to ask viewers to call in to cast their vote and produce interviews with stars while Meredith acted the part of Cyndi Lauper.
“Although we didn’t become news anchors or Cyndi Lauper, it all started with dreams and a ton of make-believe,” Ryan quipped in the caption of his Oct. 3 Instagram upload before promoting the duo’s new book. “That’s why @mmseacrest and I created THE MAKE-BELIEVERS—because you never know where your imagination will take you.”
“Calling for live votes, the Lionel Richie mention, wow this is a prophetic home video!!” one top-liked comment suggested. Ryan later responded, kidding, that he was just “Manifesting @lionelrichie into our lives 🙌🏻” all along.
When another fan pointed out that Ryan works “with Lionel Richie right now” on American Idol, the star presenter admitted it was a “Dream come true.”
“Wow!!! Sounds a lot like American Idol! 😮,” a third said in shock. “I’m actually kind of freaked out.”
“I don’t know, but I sense a bit of psychic ability in all this…” a different viewer joked.
A few seemed unable to recognize the young would-be host in the throwback clip.
“Aww so cute! Is that you @ryanseacrest,” one wrote before another asked in confusion, “Is this Ryan?”
Others, however, had no issue identifying Ryan, with one exclaiming, “I recognized that cute boy with glasses as soon as I saw him!”
