The Price Is Right player celebrates after winning car
A Price Is Right player made a last-minute change to her game because of a “gut feeling,” and it cost her an incredible win.
During the June 6 episode of the CBS game show, contestant Carolyn made it to the stage to meet Drew Carey after guessing the nearest retail price of a computer.
Announcer George Gray revealed that she had the chance of winning a trip to Nashville if she won a game of Coming or Going. In this game, a player slides a board from left to right to reveal the price they think a prize is worth.
Carolyn initially listened to the crowd and slid the number to make the lower number, $6k, but just as Carey revealed the answer, she quickly changed it to the $8k price.
She claimed she had a “gut feeling” to change the price at the last minute.
“Last second change,” Carey said before he revealed that she’d been correct with her first guess.
He then proceeded to joke: “If only there was a sad country song we could play for her.”
Later, Carolyn failed again while spinning the wheel to get into the Showcase Round.
Brenda and Brady battled it out in the Showcase, with Brady bidding $35k on a trip to Vienna and a sedan.
Brenda bid $25k on designer sunglasses, a trip to the Maldives, and a boat, but Brady ended up winning.
Yesterday’s episode saw Carey joke that a player should keep her prize in a safe before she went on to score an incredible win.
During the June 5 episode, contestant Brittany made it to the stage after guessing the nearest retail price of a home safe.
Announcer George Gray revealed that she could win a game room package if she won a game of the Check Game, in which players write a blank check for an amount of their choosing.
The value of the check is then added to the price of a prize. If the total and the price of the prize is between $8,000 and $9,000, the contestant wins the prize and the value of the check.
Brittany wrote a check too high, but she got to walk away with the void check, which prompted Carey to joke: “You got a home safe to put that in. Don’t want anybody stealing that.”
Brittany had way better luck elsewhere in the episode, starting when she spun $1 on the wheel, earning herself $1k and a ticket into the Showcase Round.
Her opponent there was Deanna, who passed on a Showcase that included a yoga package, a bedroom set, and a sedan. Brittany bid $32k on it.
Deanna’s Showcase was a trip to Minnesota that included a VIP tour of Prince’s Paisley Park, a Tour of Europe (Dublin, England, and Amsterdam), and another trip to South Korea.
She bid $24k on all of that, but was several thousand under, allowing Brittany to walk away with her jackpot.
The June 4 episode saw a player return to the game show after 15 years, only to fail miserably on a difficult game.
When player Karen made it to Carey, she showed him her shirt, which said: “I said one more,” and had a picture of them during an episode in 2010.
“When was that?” Carey asked, before Karen proudly said: “2010.” Karen had the chance to win $25k if she won a game of Punch-a-Bunch.
Karen earned three punches and threw away her first two cards before Carey revealed her last one as a disappointing $250.
