Nine-year-old Sydney boy who nabbed Taylor Swift’s 22 hat describes the moment the pop superstar embraced him on stage

A young Swiftie has shared the sweet moment his idol Taylor Swift embraced him on stage during the second night of her Sydney shows.

Nine-year-old Sydney boy Archie Wilson shared the hug with Swift after attending the concert with his mother and sibling.

Taylor, 33, has established a tradition where she gives a signed hat to one lucky fan in the crowd while singing her song, 22.

On Saturday night, Taylor spotted Archie singing along, vigorously dancing, before he was invited up on stage to receive the special gift from the pop megastar.

‘I just stood on the edge of the stage and started dancing when the 22 song started and I saw Taylor Swift coming down with the hat,’ Archie told the Daily Telegraph.

‘It was amazing, she came and knelt down and gave the hat to me and I just gave her a huge hug. It just felt amazing to be with her,’ he continued.
Swifties on social media quickly commented positively on the young boy’s enthusiasm.
‘Awwww, the kid receiving the 22 hat tonight was having the absolute time of his life,’ wrote one user of X (formerly Twitter).
‘The 22 hat tonight!! How adorable!!’ wrote another.
‘He’s an icon,’ wrote one, while another noticed that, ‘He’s feeling it,’ and a third pronounced, ‘he is everything!’
‘I know adult fans want the 22 hat but there’s something about kids getting it and watching core memories happen in real time that’s so healing,’ mused one more X user.

At the first of her Sydney shows on her Eras tour on Friday, Swift chose young Scarlett, who is fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer, to be the recipient of her signed ’22’ fedora.

Earlier, Scarlett’s step-mother Natalie had posted to social media that her step-daughter’s wish had been to meet Taylor.
