Nicole Kidman reveals 16-year-old daughter Sunday’s shock reaction to her ‘stoned’ performance in Eyes Wide Shut – in which she starred with ex Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman has revealed her daughter Sunday’s shock reaction to her ‘stoned’ performance in Eyes Wide Shut.

Kidman, 57, starred alongside then-husband Tom Cruise, 62, in the 1999 erotic thriller – and revealed that while Sunday is still too young to watch the entire movie, she had seen a scene in which Kidman’s character gets stoned.

Speaking with the LA Times, she said: ‘At the AFI [Life Achievement Award] tribute, they saw the scene where I get stoned. They showed that and I was like, ‘Ooooh. Golly. OK.’ I sat next to my daughter, Sunday, watching that.”

“She said, ‘Mom, that was good.’

Referencing her 2004 film, she added: ‘And then they showed that scene in Birth. And she said, “That was really good.”

‘And I watched that scene and thought, “Wow. That was really good.” And I never do that.’

Kidman shares Sunday and daughter Faith, 13, with husband Keith Urban and previously told People her family was ‘very supportive.’

She added: ‘But they’re also like, ‘OK, calm down.’ But I do think it’s important not to have sycophants [around you].”

“And it’s not also seeking out really horrible criticism… We’re all a work in progress, as they say.’

Kidman and Cruise married in 1990 after meeting on the set of their sports action film, Days Of Thunder.

They share daughter Isabella Jane, 31, and son Connor Cruise, 29.

In addition to Eyes Wide Shut, the couple starred in the film Far and Away during their marriage, once again playing each other’s love interests.

After their divorce in 2001, the couple remarried.

Cruise went on to wed Katie Holmes, whom he has now divorced, while Kidman has been married to country singer Urban since 2006.

Kidman recently starred in Netflix romantic comedy, A Family Affair with Zac Efron.

Joey King also portrays Nicole’s daughter and Zac’s assistant in the project – with other stars such as Kathy Bates and Liza Koshy making appearances.

Earlier last month in June, the Oscar winner glammed up with her leading co-stars to attend the glitzy premiere of the rom-com in Los Angeles ahead of its release on Netflix.

The premise follows: ‘An unexpected romance triggers comic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her boss, grappling with the complications of love, sex, and identity,’ per an IMDB synopsis.  

Both Kidman and Efron are no strangers to working together, and previously starred in the 2012 crime drama, The Paperboy.

‘We had so much fun doing that, but it was crazy,’ Nicole also recalled to People in regards to collaborating on the past film.
