Laurin Bell took her own life before leaving a heartbreaking message online. The Jeopardy! community now mourns her loss as her family looks for a home of her dog.

Jeopardy! contestant Laurin Bell died at age 41 after taking her own life.
“Well everyone, I’m signing off from life. See you on the other side,” she wrote on Facebook before committing suicide on March 23. Her death was then confirmed by a cousin who wrote online, “It is with a heavy heart that we have to let everyone know Laurin Bell decided to end her life last night. She was a brilliant, funny, and beautiful soul. Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers as they process the loss.”
Laurin’s friend further explained that, in life, the Florida native had a dog was taken to the pound after her death, asking if there was anyone who would be willing to take her in. “She is 14 years old and not good with other dogs, but is friendly with everyone and cats. She’s a great companion and needs love,” he added, explaining that the dog has 10 days and is located in a Polk County, F.L. shelter.
Jeopardy! fans were immediately stricken with grief as they took to Reddit in memory of Laurin. “I’m so sorry for her friends and family, and her canine companion. You never know what someone is going through, so I hope we all see that big smile and remember that, and try to be a bit more compassionate and kind along the way,” wrote one fan.

Another added, “May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. And may she be remembered well and fondly. Hopefully she’s at peace.”
And a third added: “Devastated to hear this. I hope the people she loved have support for their loss RIP.” A fourth wrote: “So sad to hear about this unfortunate tragedy. May she rest in peace.”
Laurin previously was known for a focus on philanthropic endeavors, including raising money for charities like Planned Parenthood and the Little Black Dress initiative.
In 2022, for her birthday, wrote on Facebook, “I’m asking for donations to Planned Parenthood. Help me shove a big middle finger in the faces of Justices Alito, Kavanaugh, Thomas, Gorsuch, and Barrett. I’m still holding out that Roberts remembers and embraces his humanity.”
Previously, she also raised funds for the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary. She wrote, “I’ve chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I’ve included information about Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary below.”
