LeBron James can be a free agent this summer and Kevin Garnett has an idea for what he should do. On the Ticket and The Truth podcast, Garnett suggested James should team up with Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Chris Paul.

“If I’m Bron, I’m rolled up, already lit. I got the five lines in front of me. I got the phones out right here,” Garnett said. “I got KD on one line, I got CP on one line. I got Steph on one line and we catching up. This is the first time I think that all the old superstars can actually be on one team and go out with a hurrah.”

(starts at 16:15 mark):

It sure would be quite something to see James, Durant, Curry, and Paul come together for one last hurrah. As things stand, none of them seem to be in a position where they can win a championship, but if they team up, they very well could win it all.

While Paul is no longer the player he once was, there is gas left in the tank as far as James, Durant, and Curry are concerned. LeBron just averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game in the 2023-24 season for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Durant, meanwhile, averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game for the Phoenix Suns. Lastly, Curry put up 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game for the Golden State Warriors. If all three of them were on the same team, I would back them to go on and win the title.

As for how realistic it is to see them together, I would say not very. The only team they could potentially team up on would be the Warriors. James, who has a player option worth $51.4 million for 2024-25, would have to take a huge pay cut, though, and he hasn’t taken any sort of discount since leaving the Miami Heat in 2014.

LeBron wants his money and when you consider he is still playing ever so well, I wouldn’t criticize him too much for that. As for Durant, he might decide he wants to leave the Suns after getting swept in the first round, but it would take quite a package for the Warriors to acquire him.

LeBron James, Kevin Durant, And Stephen Curry Will Be Teaming Up In The Summer

While I have serious doubts we’ll ever see James, Durant, and Curry on the same team in the NBA (All-Star Game aside), they will finally play together in a competitive setup for the first time this summer. The trio are among the players who have been officially picked for Team USA for the 2024 Olympics and it will most likely be the first and last time they play together.

James and Durant did play together for the national team at the Olympics in 2012 and won the gold, but this would be the first time that Curry features at the big event. An Olympic gold is really the only thing missing from the Warriors superstar’s resume at this point and I do expect him to get his hands on it this summer.
