The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing not only for the first game of the NFL season tonight – but also the expected arrival of Taylor Swift back at Arrowhead.
On a week that has been dominated by a fake ‘contract’ that claimed Travis Kelce’s relationship with the popstar is a sham, Swift is expected to touch down in Kansas City on Thursday night to watch her man.
After multiple visits from the world’s most famous woman last season, the Chiefs’ security personnel are ready – and now team president has spoken out about Swift’s return to their stadium.
‘We’ll be prepared for her, and obviously welcome her with open arms,’ Mark Donovan told Front Office Sports this week.
He also opened up on her first visit to the stadium – last year’s Week 3 win over the Chicago Bears – and how he learned ahead of time that she would be coming.

‘I’m like, “Okay, that’s fine. Um, it’s Taylor Swift. So, we sort of have to plan for this”,’ Donovan said.
He revealed that Swift’s own personal security team went to the stadium the day before the game to ensure safe passage for the pop superstar, and an ‘intricate plan’ was laid out for her arrival.
Donovan went on to explain: ‘She wants to be a fan. This is her off-time. She wants to be there to support Travis. We’re going to create that opportunity where we provide that.’
Her expected attendance on Thursday night will, of course, come amid a difficult week for Kelce and Swift, as they battle the fake ‘contract’ and rumors that they had planned to end their sham romance at the end of this month.

Kelce’s PR team have been strong in their denial of the romance being fake, and insist all is as it seems when it comes to the pair’s blossoming relationship.
Last season, Swift’s regular appearances on the national broadcasts of Chiefs’ NFL games provided a massive boost to TV ratings, and reportedly generated the equivalent of a $331.5m brand value boost for the NFL and the Chiefs.
Some fans have been left frustrated by the amount of times Swift was shown on the broadcast – often celebrating in the immediate aftermath of a touchdown – but the Chiefs themselves made a point of never showing her on the big screen at Arrowhead.
‘We’re not trying to capitalize on this,’ Donovan added to FOS. ‘We’re trying to celebrate it, but it’s not about doing too much or showing her every touchdown or anything like that.’
