Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that quarterback Dak Prescott will likely be on injury reserve with a hamstring injury.

Prescott suffered the injury during the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported the injury on Monday. Early on Tuesday, Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan with the update on Prescott’s status.

‘It’s likely we’ll IR him,’ Jones told the station.

The injury could keep the veteran sidelined for at least four games.

Prescott underwent an MRI after suffering the injury in the second half against Atlanta.

Before Jones’ update, initial reports from the NFL Network suggested that the results were worse than initially feared. Pelissero also noted that the team was yet to decide whether to place Prescott on IR.

Kevin Prata of NFL.com also reported that Prescott would seek a second medical opinion to confirm treatment options.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday that the club was still evaluating Prescott’s injury.

‘Once the doctors and really once he figures out where he’s at,’ McCarthy said, ‘those are conversations that’ll probably happen here over the course of this week.’

McCarthy confirmed that Prescott will not be available for Dallas’ Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Cooper Rush, who came in for Prescott after the injury, will get the starting nod.

The Cowboys also have former first-round pick Trey Lance as an option.

Apart from his hamstring, Prescott also suffered a hand laceration on Sunday, but Rapoport previously reported that the quarterback’s hand was fine.

Dallas’ tough stretch got more bitter on Sunday as they dropped to 3-5 with their third straight loss. The next three weeks do not show much promise as they have the Texans and Commanders on deck in line with Prescott’s likely absence.
