Jeopardy! Announces Rare Job Opening with Six-Figure Salary—Fans Go Wild for the Opportunity
“Jeopardy!” fans are in for an unexpected surprise—an extremely rare job opening with a salary starting at $250,000 per year. The long-running game show has posted a vacancy for a Supervising Producer in Contestant Recruitment and Development, sparking excitement among its dedicated audience.
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity
On Tuesday, “Jeopardy!” took to social media to share the news, urging potential candidates to apply via a link in their bio. The position, which pays a minimum of $5,000 per week, requires experience in contestant recruitment, knowledge of television production, and, most importantly, a deep passion for “Jeopardy!”.
Given that the show rarely expands its tight-knit team, this opportunity has sent fans into a frenzy. Many took to the comments section to express their excitement, with reactions ranging from enthusiasm to humorous self-doubt.
“I have none of those qualifications, but I want that job!” one fan exclaimed.
Another eager follower asked, “When are you hiring writers?”
A third simply declared, “OMG, what a dream job!”
The Prestigious “Jeopardy!” Staff
With a small and exclusive production team, “Jeopardy!” jobs are hard to come by. The show has just ten writers, most of whom have been with the program for decades. The hiring process is notoriously selective, making this announcement even more exciting for fans.
Longtime viewers may recall the legendary Clue Crew, a team personally selected by the late Alex Trebek from a pool of 5,000 hopefuls. Two of its original members, Sarah Foss and Jimmy McGuire, remain with “Jeopardy!” today in producer and stage manager roles.
What Does the Job Entail?
According to Sony Pictures Television, the Supervising Producer will report directly to the Executive Producer and oversee contestant recruitment and development. The role’s responsibilities include:
Expanding, strengthening, and diversifying “Jeopardy!”’s contestant pool
Leading the contestant team with new recruitment strategies
Managing the testing and selection process
Spearheading recruitment efforts for upcoming spinoffs such as “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” and “Sports Jeopardy!”
Enhancing the contestant experience from application to alumni status
A particularly intriguing aspect of the listing is the mention of “Sports Jeopardy!,” a title that has not yet been officially announced, suggesting potential expansion within the franchise.
Qualifications and Expectations
Sony Pictures is searching for someone who is, above all, “Jeopardy!’s #1 fan.” While experience in game show production is a plus, passion for the show is an absolute must.
The position is based in Culver City, California, and offers the rare chance to play a vital role in one of television’s most beloved institutions.
Season 41 and Beyond
“Jeopardy!” is set to return for its 41st season on September 9, with Ken Jennings continuing his role as host. As the show gears up for another year of intellectual competition, this job opening represents an extraordinary opportunity for one lucky candidate to join the team behind the scenes.
With such a rare and prestigious position up for grabs, one thing is certain—competition for this job will be as fierce as a “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions match.

SMALL STAFF
According to its website, Jeopardy! has just ten writers, most of whom have been with the show for decades.
When there are job openings, it’s always a big deal.
Fans may recall the iconic Clue Crew.
The late Alex Trebek hand-picked the four-member team from a whopping 5,000 people.
Two Clue Crew members, Sarah Foss and Jimmy Mcguire, are still with the show as producer and stage manager, respectively.
WHAT IS: THE JOB?
Sony Pictures Television shared further details on the role in their job posting which can be found here.
The potentially full-time position pays “$5,000.00 – $7,000.00 per week.”
That’s a minimum of $250,000 annually (equal to the prize for winning the Tournament of Champions).
“The Supervising Producer, Contestant Recruitment and Development at Jeopardy! will report directly to the Executive Producer,” the posting reads.
“The main goal for this role will be to oversee the direction of the show’s contestant department.
This entails “expanding, strengthening, and diversifying Jeopardy!’s contestant pool” and “enhancing the contestant experience.”
Responsibilities include: “Lead the contestant team in taking a more active and outward-facing approach to expand, strengthen, and diversify the contestant pool with both short and long-term recruitment strategies.
“Identify, create, and implement new initiatives for identifying talent.
“Manage and ensure the contestant team is efficient and fully engaged throughout the entire contestant testing and selection process.
“Spearhead Jeopardy!’s efforts to recruit the best players possible to take the Anytime Test and any future specific test (i.e. Pop Culture and Sports Jeopardy!).”
And: “Initiate ways to enhance the contestant experience at every stage – from applying and auditioning to appearing and becoming alumni.”
The mention of Sports Jeopardy! is an interesting footnote since only Pop Culture Jeopardy! has been announced by the show.
In the qualifications, Sony emphasized: “The ideal candidate will be Jeopardy!’s #1 fan”
“We are looking for someone who has passion and love for Jeopardy!.”
Season 41 of the game show premieres with host Ken Jennings on September 9.
