Jeopardy! Masters contestant James Holzhauer leaves viewers in stitches with a VERY cheeky spelling quip

Jeopardy! Masters contestant James Holzhauer had the audience in fits of laughter during Wednesday night’s season premiere

Jeopardy! Masters contestant James Holzhauer couldn’t resist making a cheeky quip about the word ‘fuchsia,’ leaving the audience in hysterics as he highlighted the risk that comes with spelling out the word during Wednesday night’s season premiere.

The 39-year-old quizzer, who is among the returning players competing in the 18-game competition, made the joke as he took on the Spell It category, which sees competitors tasked with spelling their answers aloud.

It all started when host Ken Jennings, 49, asked: ‘The last name of botanist Leonhard gave us this word for a type of flower and shade of reddish purple.’

James then buzzed in and successfully spelled out the word ‘fuchsia.’

The quip tickled the audience who could be heard laughing in the studio.

Fans at home were also in stitches over the comments and shared their amusement on social media.

One wrote: ‘I laughed that one I can’t stop what James said. Haha!!’

Agreeing, another said: ‘Same laughed TOO hard.’

A third added: ‘I loved watching James!’

A fourth said: ‘Tonight’s show was hilarious.’

James’s cheeky spelling gag wasn’t his only funny moment, as he also described himself as the ‘main event’ during a chat with Ken.
