Jeopardy! fans and contestants were all stumped

Jeopardy! is a trivia game so not all the questions are easy – but fans think it went too far tonight.

Wednesday’s episode of the hit game show had Brett Kelly, an actor from Surrey, British Columbia and Sophia Maymudes, a software engineer from Seattle, Washington who went against one-day champion Will Wallace, a game design director from Austin, Texas. As the game went on, there seemed to be plenty of answers that stumped the competitors and those at home.

On the Reddit thread for the day’s episode, fans shared their annoyance with the game’s questions. But others felt proud of themselves for getting the Jeopardy! questions right when the contestants couldn’t.”I got a few triple stumpers today, I felt pretty smart,” one fan commented. Others felt that misery loves company as one wrote: “I’m glad I’m not alone in doing very poorly today.”

Fans also felt for the contestants. “Oh man poor Sophia! That was hard to watch,” another commented. “In first place, gets the DD, wagers small, misses… And then slides down the mountain with a series of incorrect guesses. Gotta feel for her.”

Contestant Brett didn’t get to compete in Final Jeopardy as he had a negative score after Double Jeopardy. “Gotta feel for Brett here, I found this to be an extraordinarily difficult game today, some of these were categories and clues I’d expect to see in the TOC or even Masters,” someone wrote.

Sophia, who came in second, added her thoughts to the comments section. “Obviously a lot could have gone better for me in this game and it’s been hard to not focus on some of the tougher moments – honestly, it will be weird to watch it back and see how the rest of the game went, because I barely remember any of it!” she wrote.

“Looking at it now, though, I feel like I set myself up as best I could, managed to find the daily doubles when I wanted to, and just got unlucky that I didn’t know any of them. I’m still proud of having the most correct answers in the game, though,” she added.
