Jeopardy! viewers were not feeling a new contestant on the Alex Trebek stage.
On the Monday, Nov. 4 episode of the trivia game show, Lindsey Simmons, an attorney from Marshall, Missouri, and Brian Frey, a journeyman from Syosset, New York, faced the two-time champion from Raymond, New Hampshire, Greg Jolin, a system specialist and accountant.
Throughout his time on the show, Brian got in the groove of things. When he shared a fact about himself, Brian shared that he worked different jobs in “different places.” The reason he stated himself as a “journeyman” was because it was appropriate for the show but in reality, Brian’s father refers to him as a “jacka– of all trades.”
Viewers at home were at first rooting for the contestant but things took a turn when he started to be “theatrical and dramatic.” One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Can [this guy] stop with the theatrics and dramatics and just play the damn game? #jeopardy.” Another person wrote: “I’ve never cheered harder against a #Jeopardy contestant than against Brian Frey within half a second of his first on screen appearance.” A third person wrote: “I’ve never wanted a contestant to [lose] more than this Brian guy. #Jeopardy.” A fourth user posted: “Brian reminds me of a Batman villain. #Jeopardy.”

Despite many not being a fan of Brian and his energy, others liked his “swag.” He wore a black suit with a white collared button-up under and paired the look with a pink bowtie and sunglasses. One person on Reddit wrote: “Not sure if Brian is a good Jeopardy player or not, but he definitely is all-timer as far as drip.”
Before the Final Jeopardy! round, Brian was in last place, wagering $3,800, Lindsey with $5,600 and the two-time champ with $19,000. Greg and Brian were correct. Greg added $6,000 to win with $25,000 for a three-day total of $75,002. Brian doubled up and added $3,799 to his total earnings, placing him in second place. Lindsey places third with a total earnings of $3,399.
