Jeopardy! contestant Sam Cameron reflected on his time on the trivia game show.

Sam, a finance manager from Fargo, North Dakota, went up against Julie Phillips, an attorney from Alexandria, Virginia and one-day champion Greg Jolin, system specialist and accountant from Raymond, Washington, on a Jeopardy! episode that aired last week on Friday, November 1. In the game, Greg went on to become a second-day champion as he got the Final Jeopardy! clue right (and was the only one) with total earnings of $50,002.

Sam took to the Jeopardy! subreddit under the thread for the November 1 contest to share some “quick thoughts” as he himself watched the game for the first time. One of those thoughts was about how he was “super jealous” about this clue that Greg ended up getting to answer first.

In the “Only Murders in Buildings” category, a $1,000 clue was selected that read: “In an Agatha Christie work from 1926, this title character is killed in his home study.” Greg buzzed in first with the correct answer of “Roger Ackroyd.” The finance manager shared on the subreddit how Agatha Christie is his favorite author and he wanted to answer the clue.

Greg ended up buzzing first to the clue Sam wanted to answer

“Oh man, I’m super jealous that Greg got to the buzzer first on the Agatha Christie question, haha! She’s my all-time favorite author and I’ve got a collection of her books from thrift stores and garage sales,” Sam wrote.

While Sam did not win, he came in second on the ABC trivia show and made an improvement from the first round to the second round of Jeopardy!. When it was Final Jeopardy!, he had $13,000 while Greg had $23,000 and Julie’s $6,600. Sam unfortunately got the “History & The Movies” category of Final Jeopardy! wrong by guessing: “What is How Green Was My Valley.” The answer was: “What is Mutiny on the Bounty?”

In Sam’s lengthy Reddit comment, he also expressed his gratitude in having the opportunity to be on his favorite show even though things did not pan out the way he hoped. He said everyone he met that day was “the most positive part of the experience.” He called those he interacted with “brilliant, passionate people” and shouted out “green room buddy for most of the day and fellow long-hair-club member Greg.”

While Sam was jealous Greg got to the clue first, there appeared to be no hard feelings between the two. Sam concluded that Greg was a “real cool dude” and that if they lived closer, they would be pals in real life. Lastly, he said that he’s “excited” to see if Greg will continue his winning streak.
